Lumberyard Forklift Operator

Double R Building Products is seeking a Lumberyard Forklift Operator to assemble framing lumber for delivery and pickup. This role supports residential framing packages, commercial construction orders, walk-in pickups, and mixed order types while helping maintain an organized, safe, and efficient yard. The position is based at Double R, a family-owned business located in southeast Calgary, and reports to the Yard Foreman.

Responsibilities

• Operate counterbalance forklifts to handle lumber and other building materials.
• Assemble and stage residential framing packages, commercial construction orders, walk-in pickups, and mixed orders.
• Load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
• Prepare shipments and secure loads for delivery.
• Receive deliveries and complete inventory counts.
• Assist customers with loading their orders.
• Organize inventory and maintain a clean, orderly yard.
• Inspect equipment and follow workplace safety procedures.
• Perform general yard maintenance and support material handling activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Entry-level experience in forklift or lumberyard operations.
• Forklift operator certification.
• Experience operating counterbalance forklifts.
• Ability to identify lumber and safely secure loads.
• Knowledge of material handling and inventory management.
• Commitment to workplace safety.
• Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills.
