ABOUT US
STRIVE is a specialist recruitment firm offering proactive recruitment solutions in the areas of Accounting & Finance, Corporate Administration, Manufacturing Operations, and Technology. STRIVE supports various clients from small to medium-sized enterprises to Fortune 500 organizations for their permanent, contract, and temporary recruitment needs.
THE CLIENT
Our client is an established organization with a growing portfolio of projects and day-to-day accounting operations. As the Finance team navigates internal changes and redistributes responsibilities, they are looking to bring on a Contract Accountant to provide additional support and help maintain smooth financial operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional seeking a short-term contract with part-time hours and flexibility. You'll join a collaborative team where you can put your existing accounting skills to use, contribute from day one and gain exposure to project-related accounting activities.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Finance team, the Contract Junior Accountant will support routine accounting and transactional activities, helping the team stay on top of daily requirements and maintain accurate financial records.
The role will focus on accounts payable, reconciliations, GST filings and general bookkeeping, alongside light month-end support. This is a hands-on opportunity suited to someone who can work independently, manage routine tasks with minimal supervision and contribute effectively within a busy team environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice entry and coding
- Allocate project-related invoices to the appropriate jobs and cost codes
- Complete bank and corporate credit card reconciliations
- Prepare and assist with GST filings
- Provide general bookkeeping and day-to-day accounting support
- Assist with month-end activities, including routine reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Support the broader Finance team with ad hoc accounting duties as required
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 1–2+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in a junior- intermediate accounting or bookkeeping position
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable, reconciliations and general accounting duties
- Familiarity with GST filings and basic month-end accounting processes
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records
- Ability to work independently on routine tasks with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Adaptable, proactive and comfortable joining a team on a short-term contract
- Experience with project-related invoices, job costing or cost-code allocation is an asset, but not essential
- Experience in any industry will be considered, including candidates coming from public practice
- Available to work on-site for approximately 24–30 hours per week, ideally spread across four days
Thank you for your interest! We appreciate you taking the time to apply and will be in touch if your experience aligns with the role.
