Must Haves

• 15+ years of demonstrable experience, preferably in the design, development, upgrade, document and full life-cycle implementation of Work and Asset Management solutions using IBM Maximo MAS, Maximo Mobile, and Maximo 7.6.x.
• 12+ years of extensive experience leading large-scale IBM Maximo implementations, including project delivery, system migrations, testing, upgrades, and major go-lives.
• Proficient in providing expert advice, solution design, and post-implementation support for Maximo and Maximo Mobile applications.
• Skilled in gathering business requirements, mapping business processes, designing Maximo-based solutions, and supporting program-level change management initiatives.

Project Description

• The Maximo SME will support the EWMS Program and vendor teams as a core Maximo SME to configure Maximo application suite on work management implementations in the City's technology ecosystem.
• This role is responsible for managing all functional and technical aspects of Maximo solution development, including design & configurations in Maximo and interfaces ensuring a high level of solution quality.
• In addition, the resource will manage the realization of the design into a fully built, tested and live solution.
• The resource must have extensive knowledge of IBM Maximo's Work Management processes, how an Enterprise Work Management (EWMS) system and complementary third-party products can be integrated into a technical architecture to meet customer requirements.

Description

• Maximo Subject Matter Expert (SME) is required to support the EWMS Program in implementing work management solutions within the City's technology ecosystem.
• The SME will be responsible for leading both the functional and technical aspects of Maximo solution development—including configuration design, system integrations, custom Maximo applications, and mobile solutions while ensuring a high standard of quality throughout.
• Additionally, the SME will oversee the end-to-end realization of the solution, from design through to testing and go-live deployment.
• The ideal candidate must possess deep expertise in Maximo Work Management processes, including experience with implementation challenges and strategies for effective resolution.

Deliverables

• Ability to lead teams, manage multiple projects, and collaborate with stakeholders at various levels.
• Work closely with City Divisions and assist in configuring or implementing Maximo system as per City's divisional requirements to build consensus and resolve technical challenges.
• Lead Divisional workshops and create functional design documents
• Work closely with City vendors to ensure quality deliverables
• Manage testing of the product via project resources and assist in promoting the code to SIT/QA for UAT.
• Oversee the preparation of test plans, test cases, scenarios, and result documents.
• Track problems, defects, and issues within a large project.
• Analyse results and creating reports for Management when needed.
• Identify dependencies and define them clearly so that each team member knows what needs to be completed before moving on.
• Provide assessments and recommendations of new technology trends on the effective use and acquisition for the City.

Experience & Skill Set Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

• Strong background in leading development teams, providing technical direction, and supporting all stages of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
• Solid understanding of enterprise integrations, automation frameworks, and cloud technologies, ensuring scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Experienced in legacy data conversion, data mapping, and data migration - managing the process end-to-end with accuracy and accountability.
• Strong involvement in system and application testing, including developing test cases, executing unit and system tests, and validating results for quality assurance.
• Adept at collaborating with stakeholders across divisions and business units to build consensus, drive decision-making, and resolve technical challenges.
• Recognized for excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Technical Capabilities

• Customization: Experience in Maximo Business Objects & Web Beans (Java), Automation Scripts (Java, Python or other scripting languages)
• Integration: Experience designing and implementing integrations using Maximo Integration Framework (MIF)
• Web Technologies: Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL APIs, and web services
• Version Control: Proficient in Git or similar tools (e.g., Docker)
• Reporting: Proficient in BIRT Report design and development, Dashboarding using BI tools
• Application Design: Maximo Application Designer
• Database: Strong skills in Oracle SQL and DB2 – queries and script development
• Spatial Configuration: Strong knowledge of Maximo Spatial configuration & ArcGis
• Maximo Versions: Experience with Maximo 9.x and 7.6.x configuration and application development
• Mobile: Experience with Maximo Mobile development and support
