Nortera Tecumseh is currently looking for a highly motivated and energetic team member to join our Maintenance Department as a full-time Millwright Apprentice. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Millwright Apprentice will support the Maintenance team in maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing plant machinery and equipment.

Main Responsibilities:

• Assist with the installation, maintenance, repair, and adjustment of machinery and equipment under the direction of experienced Maintenance personnel.
• Assist with changing equipment layouts and setting up machinery as directed by Maintenance or Production leadership.
• Develop an understanding of conveying equipment, including pumps, shakers, conveyors, and related systems.
• Assist in starting and observing machines to identify malfunctions and support required adjustments and repairs.
• Assist with mechanical troubleshooting and repairs while gaining hands-on experience with plant equipment and systems.
• Support preventative and corrective maintenance activities as assigned.
• Follow all plant safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures and actively contribute to a safe working environment.
• Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, Food Safety, and all established quality and safety requirements.
• Complete maintenance documentation and logs accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
• Participate in training and development opportunities to build knowledge of plant machinery, seaming equipment, continuous cookers, controllers, and other systems.
• Follow direction from the Maintenance Manager and experienced Maintenance team members.
• Work collaboratively with Maintenance, Production, and other departments to support efficient plant operations.
• Develop an understanding of productivity and efficiency indicators and their impact on plant performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Knowledge & Skills

• Previous experience in a manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or maintenance environment is an asset.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment.
• Exposure to or basic knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting is an asset.
• Previous experience with pumps, conveyors, shakers, or other conveying equipment is an asset.
• Knowledge of continuous cookers, controllers, or food-processing equipment is an asset.
• Strong willingness to learn and develop technical and mechanical skills.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Demonstrates punctuality, reliability, initiative, and a positive attitude while role-modeling Nortera's Core Values.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability and willingness to learn and become technically trained in all aspects of plant equipment and systems.
• Must be physically capable of performing the essential requirements of the position, including bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, and sitting.
• Flexible to work a 12-hour continental shift rotation and available for on-call shifts and overtime as required.
• Hourly wage range for this role is $30.49 - $33.00
