Our Ideal Candidate
We are seeking Mechanical Designers to join our team in either our Saskatoon or Regina office. Our work combines technical excellence with innovative problem-solving to deliver practical engineering solutions that make a lasting impact on the industries and communities we serve. In this role, you'll collaborate with clients, contractors, and a talented team of professionals to deliver a diverse range of projects from concept through to completion. You'll be part of a supportive, collaborative team of engineers, EITs, designers, and project managers who value fresh ideas, open communication, and working together to achieve great results.
A Day in the Life
- Lead and contribute to the design and development of mechanical systems for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
- Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and technical assessments to ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.
- Prepare and review mechanical drawings, technical specifications, equipment datasheets, and engineering reports, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical systems into overall project designs.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction and installation progress and verify compliance with design requirements and safety standards.
- Develop practical, innovative engineering solutions that balance performance, reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, support ongoing projects, and identify opportunities to develop new clients and projects.
- Work closely with project managers, team members, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to define project requirements, deliverables, and expectations.
- Manage engineering deliverables to meet established schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Proactively identify and resolve technical, scope, performance, and scheduling challenges in collaboration with project managers.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and professional development.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Saskatchewan, or eligibility for registration.
- 7+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, ideally within an engineering consulting environment.
- Experience in the design and delivery of mechanical systems for industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience with mechanical equipment selection, sizing, specifications, and technical evaluations.
- Knowledge of applicable national and provincial codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Experience coordinating mechanical designs with multidisciplinary engineering teams.6
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities, with a commitment to supporting the professional development of team members.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
