Chief Operating Engineer - London, ON
Bring your expertise to an established food manufacturing operation. We're looking for a hands-on professional to oversee essential plant utilities, maintain equipment reliability and ensure safe, efficient operations.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
- $45 - $50 per hour, flexible based on experience and qualifications

- A key operational role: Take the lead in maintaining essential plant utilities and improving system performance
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Oversee industrial ammonia refrigeration, steam boilers, air compressors and other plant utilities
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and maintain reliable system performance
- Manage preventative maintenance, operating logs and regulatory inspections
- Coordinate contractors, guide operators and support equipment upgrades
- Drive improvements in efficiency, safety and regulatory compliance
- Respond to after-hours refrigeration and boiler emergencies as required
WHAT YOU BRING
- Refrigeration Class B Certificate or 3rd Class Operating Engineer Certificate
- 2–3 years of experience with ammonia-based refrigeration systems
- Strong knowledge of boilers, refrigeration and industrial plant utilities
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication and problem-solving skills
ASSETS THAT WILL SET YOU APART
- Experience with CO₂ refrigeration systems
- Background in food and beverage manufacturing or a similar industrial environment
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, WHMIS and related food manufacturing safety requirements
