Chief Operating Engineer - London, ON

Bring your expertise to an established food manufacturing operation. We're looking for a hands-on professional to oversee essential plant utilities, maintain equipment reliability and ensure safe, efficient operations.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

  • $45 - $50 per hour, flexible based on experience and qualifications
  • Monday–Friday morning shift

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Oversee industrial ammonia refrigeration, steam boilers, air compressors and other plant utilities
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and maintain reliable system performance
  • Manage preventative maintenance, operating logs and regulatory inspections
  • Coordinate contractors, guide operators and support equipment upgrades
  • Drive improvements in efficiency, safety and regulatory compliance
  • Respond to after-hours refrigeration and boiler emergencies as required

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Refrigeration Class B Certificate or 3rd Class Operating Engineer Certificate
  • 2–3 years of experience with ammonia-based refrigeration systems
  • Strong knowledge of boilers, refrigeration and industrial plant utilities
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication and problem-solving skills

ASSETS THAT WILL SET YOU APART

  • Experience with CO₂ refrigeration systems
  • Background in food and beverage manufacturing or a similar industrial environment
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, WHMIS and related food manufacturing safety requirements
