Position: Parking Maintenance

Location: Edmonton International Airport (YEG)

Starting Rate: $20.40

Hours: Full-time / Must have flexible availability

Position Summary

The Maintenance Operator is responsible for ensuring airport facilities, infrastructure, and equipment are maintained in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. The role supports daily airport operations through routine inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, and response to operational incidents while maintaining high standards of safety and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of airport facilities, parking assets, roadways, curbs, terminals, and operational areas.
  • Perform general maintenance and minor repairs on airport infrastructure, parking equipment, and airport-owned assets.
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of parking facilities, surface lots, parkades, roadways, and surrounding operational areas.
  • Perform vehicle boosts, tire inflation assistance, and provide basic customer support services in parking areas.
  • Assist customers with vehicles stuck in snow, where safe and appropriate, using approved equipment and procedures.
  • Pick up, transport, install, and organize barricades, cones, signs, and traffic control devices to support operational projects and events.
  • Support lane closures, traffic management initiatives, and special projects as directed.
  • Follow instructions and complete tasks assigned by the Head of Department (HOD), Manager on Duty (MOD), supervisors, and airport management.
  • Conduct inventory counts of signs, barricades, equipment, tools, materials, and operational supplies.
  • Maintain storage rooms, maintenance shops, and inventory areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, operational issues, customer concerns, and emergency situations.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled.
  • Assist with snow removal, ice control, and adverse weather response activities.
  • Operate maintenance vehicles, utility vehicles, and maintenance equipment safely and in accordance with airport procedures.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and report facility deficiencies, hazards, equipment failures, and safety concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, work orders, inventory, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all airport safety, security, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Control Room, Parking, Transit, and other airport stakeholders as required.
  • Participate in after-hours, weekend, holiday, and emergency call-out coverage as needed.
  • Promote a positive customer experience by providing professional, courteous, and timely assistance to airport guests and stakeholders.

Required Experience & Education

  • Minimum 1-2 years of previous maintenance experience is required, preferably in facilities maintenance, parking operations, airport operations, building maintenance, grounds maintenance, or a related field.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance, general repairs, facility inspections, and customer assistance services.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience operating maintenance vehicles, utility vehicles, snow removal equipment, or similar machinery is considered an asset

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in parking operations, facility maintenance, grounds maintenance, snow removal, or airport operations.
  • Experience operating skid steers, utility vehicles, snow removal equipment, or similar machinery is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple assignments, and adapt to changing operational requirements.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to physically push/pull/lift to 22.67 kg
  • Ability to bend at the knees or squat frequently throughout a shift
  • Willingness to work in inclement weather (rain, sleet, snow, heat, high wind, etc.)
