THE COMPANY & CULTURE
Our client is a luxury fine art portrait studio based in North York, Ontario, founded approximately 2 years ago. The company employs 14 people total, with 5 based locally. It is family-owned and operated by two co-owners, one of whom serves as CEO and direct sales manager. The studio specializes in custom family and pet portraiture, producing museum-grade, heirloom-quality wall art using hand-painted and digitally finished techniques that blend Renaissance-style artistry with modern technology. Clients range from everyday families to affluent households and public figures across the Greater Toronto Area. The studio is in a scale-up phase, growing revenue annually and expanding the sales team. This hire is the first dedicated full-time salesperson — the current salesperson holds a dual role within the company. On culture: the CEO describes the environment as 'work hard, play hard.' Everyone has a voice regardless of their role — ideas and feedback are welcomed at all levels. The team celebrates wins together with monthly outings, workplace perks, and recognition events. Leadership is described as approachable, constructive, and empowering — team members are given agency and ownership within their roles, with direct, constructive coaching when needed. Peak periods are fast-moving and demanding; the environment requires stamina, grit, adaptability, and fortitude.
