Site Supervisor

**This is a fly in fly out opportunity located in Fort Mackay at the Firebag River Airport**

Primary focus

The Site Supervisor, under the direction of the Site Manager, supports the day-to-day operations of the Firebag Aerodrome by providing frontline supervision and coordination of airside and ground support activities. The role is responsible for ensuring operational, safety, customer service, and regulatory standards are consistently met while supporting employee development, workforce scheduling, training, and administrative functions. The Site Supervisor assists with the implementation and monitoring of operational procedures, Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) programs, inspections, investigations, and corrective actions, while promoting a strong safety culture and leading by example. Working closely with stakeholders, this position helps ensure safe, efficient, compliant, and customer-focused operations at the site.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the working schedules of all employees, by coordinating vacation, overtime, and ensuring all shifts are sufficiently staffed
  • Work jointly and cooperatively with airline reservations and flight coordinators, all incoming flight crews, and charter dispatchers to improve operations and turnaround times
  • Ensure that CBO staff provide seamless customer service of the highest quality
  • Provides performance feedback and coaching to employees and supports the Site Manager in the performance review process
  • Identifies training requirements and works with the Site Manager to ensure employees receive the training and resources required to perform their duties safely and effectively
  • Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of operational procedures, safe work practices and client requirements
  • Maintains operational proficiency on all equipment
  • Bird and wildlife management as required
  • Aircraft movement surface condition reporting as required
  • Ensures equipment is operated safely and efficiently
  • Demonstrates commitment to safe work habits and model behavior for all CBO employees
  • Investigate incidents and ensure that all required paperwork is completed by all parties and submitted to the Site Manager for follow up through the quarterly SMS Meeting
  • Monitors employee and contractor performance and safety compliance and reports concerns to the Site Manager while supporting corrective actions as required.
  • Follow up on safety concern forms submitted by employees
  • Ensure that all employees and visitors wear the proper PPE at all times
  • Provide general administrative support
  • Ensure all required safety, security and standard operating procedures are adhered to.
  • Directs radio operators as to when to issue a NOTAM as required
  • Assist HR in recruitment process
  • Provide area specific orientation to all new employees
  • Maintains an inventory of consumables such as janitorial supplies, aircraft and runway deicing fluid, runway sand, sweeper bristles, etc
  • Maintains certification on aircraft de-icing procedures
  • Ensure that QAHSE programs and certifications to which the organization subscribes are implemented within their area of influence. This may include but not be limited to development of department procedures, continuous improvement, employee training, and monitoring. Forming part of the QAHSE management committee and being part of a corrective action investigation and implementation team.
  • Effective administration on the Safety Management Plan, audits and inspections, Joint Health and Safety Committee, Risk Assessments, investigations, and reports, hazardous material, WHMIS, and general safety training
  • Provide expertise and leadership to CBO team and subcontractors on safety inquires, initiatives and risk management to prevent and eliminate incidents.
  • Maintain Hazardous Material Reference Application (HMRA) database
  • Implement and maintain CBO Administrative, Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety management systems within each department

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
  • AVOP or willingness to obtain
  • Radio license (aeronautical) or willingness to obtain

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient in the use of computer programs such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (Class 3 with Q endorsement preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Previous experience with manual handling principles
