About Charter:

Founded in 1997, Victoria headquartered Charter Telecom Inc. has grown into one of Canada's foremost fastest growing Information Technology providers in the country, providing a broad array of high value product and service solutions to clients operating some of the most mission critical networks and applications.

If you are looking to be an integral part of a vibrant, success-based environment with the core values of empowerment, flexibility, agility, innovation, high knowledge based, life balanced, and high ethics deeply embedded into the everyday culture, then Charter is a place for you to look. We are a high energy business focused team, providing the highest possible customer experience, with best-in-class engineering support.

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network & Security Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise networks for clients. You will lead network projects from design through cutover and resolve escalated tickets for our managed services and Juniper partner support customers. There is no fixed split between project and support work; you will move between the two as client needs change, including troubleshooting mid-project when issues arise. You will work mainly with Juniper (Junos and Mist), specializing in SASE/SSE, NAC, firewalls, and web security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and deliver on client networks and produce high-level and low-level designs, migration plans, and test procedures
  • Configure and troubleshoot routing and switching, including BGP and OSPF, across multi-vendor environments, primarily Juniper
  • Deploy and manage multi-vendor firewalls (Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Juniper SRX), site-to-site and remote access VPNs, and segmentation
  • Deploy SASE/SSE and NAC solutions (e.g., Prisma Access, Zscaler, Cisco ISE)
  • Deploy and support enterprise wireless, both on-premises and cloud-managed (e.g., Juniper Mist)
  • Lead network refreshes, hardware swaps, and vendor migrations through cutover
  • Resolve escalated tickets for managed services and Juniper partner support customers within SLA, including vendor TAC cases and RMAs
  • Use scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Ansible) to standardize configurations and reduce manual effort
  • Produce and maintain MOPs, as-built documentation, and client runbooks.
  • Act as technical lead with clients, carriers, and vendors; mentor Solution Specialists and support pre-sales scoping

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Network/Computer Systems or a related field
  • JNCIP-ENT and/or JNCIP-SP certification is required
  • 7+ years of hands-on enterprise network engineering, including design and lead roles.
  • Proven delivery of network refresh or migration projects, plus experience resolving support tickets against SLAs, ideally at a VAR or MSP
  • Advanced Juniper experience (Junos, Mist) and working knowledge of Cisco; Extreme, Aruba, or Meraki experience is an asset
  • Experience in two or more of: SASE/SSE, NAC, firewalls, or web security
  • Strong documentation and communication skills, and comfort switching between project work and reactive troubleshooting, including after hours
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be able to clear a Criminal Record Check upon request

Working Conditions:

  • Overtime as required
  • On-call as required
  • Minimal travel - less than 10%
