Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Recruitment Partner: Fuze HR Solutions Fuze HR Solutions is currently recruiting for a Payroll & Benefits Administrator on behalf of an established organization in Mississauga, Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented payroll professional who has experience supporting Canadian multi-provincial payroll and is looking to take ownership of a broad payroll and benefits function within a collaborative corporate environment.
Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Payroll & Benefits Administrator will be responsible for supporting accurate and timely payroll processing, benefits administration, statutory compliance, reconciliations and payroll-related reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with Finance, Human Resources and regional leadership while also contributing to payroll process improvements and system efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Process biweekly Canadian payroll for hourly and salaried employees, including both union and non-union populations.
  • Complete payroll data entry, validation, auditing and reporting to ensure accuracy and data integrity.
  • Administer employee benefits and respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, time and attendance.
  • Calculate, deduct and remit union dues in accordance with applicable collective agreements and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure payroll practices comply with applicable Canadian wage and hour legislation, payroll tax requirements, union agreements and company policies.
  • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports and support applicable prevailing-wage reporting requirements.
  • Perform biweekly payroll reconciliations and support monthly payroll reporting.
  • Assist Finance with the preparation of payroll-related monthly journal entries.
  • Prepare and complete year-end payroll reporting, including T4s, T2200s and related documentation.
  • Conduct regular payroll audits to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate employee and payroll information.
  • Support the harmonization and standardization of payroll systems, processes and procedures across multiple entities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, strengthen internal controls and increase system efficiencies.
  • Prepare ad hoc payroll reports for senior leadership and other internal departments.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee, payroll and financial information.
These responsibilities reflect the full-cycle payroll, union, reconciliation, compliance and year-end requirements identified by client.
Qualifications & Experience
  • College diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Payroll, Accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1–3+ years of payroll and benefits administration experience.
  • Multi-provincial Canadian payroll experience is required.
  • Experience processing payroll for both hourly and salaried employees.
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll tax requirements and employment legislation.
  • Previous exposure to unionized payroll environments and collective agreements is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of ADP is an asset but is not required.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a time-sensitive payroll environment with minimal errors.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills when responding to employee payroll and benefits inquiries.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with HR, Finance and operational teams.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
Client specifically identifies multi-provincial experience, Canadian payroll legislation knowledge, Excel capability and confidentiality as requirements, with ADP knowledge listed as beneficial rather than mandatory.
