This opportunity is a project-based secondment position offering remote work flexibility, with occasional travel to the Kamloops, British Columbia area. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, project leadership, engineering teams, and stakeholders to support project planning, cost management, scheduling, forecasting, and overall project performance.

The ideal candidate will bring strong project controls experience, financial and commercial knowledge, and the ability to turn project data into meaningful insights that support successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules using Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6.
  • Establish and maintain project baselines, work breakdown structures, budgets, schedules, and project controls processes.
  • Prepare monthly project performance reports, including financial updates, schedule progress, forecasting, earned value analysis, and key performance indicators.
  • Develop and maintain project cost forecasts, including Estimate to Complete (ETC), Estimate at Completion (EAC), cash flow projections, committed costs, and variance analysis.
  • Monitor project budgets, labour costs, expenditures, revenue, subcontractor commitments, and overall financial performance.
  • Support project invoicing, revenue recognition, accounts receivable reviews, and contract compliance.
  • Track project scope changes, change orders, and associated cost and schedule impacts.
  • Identify project risks, trends, and performance variances, working with project teams to develop corrective actions.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and project controls tools to support informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, engineering teams, accounting, contractors, and other stakeholders to support project delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to project controls, forecasting, financial management, and reporting.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in project controls, cost control, project accounting, scheduling, financial analysis, or a related project delivery role.
  • Experience supporting projects within engineering, construction, mining, infrastructure, energy, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of project budgeting, cost forecasting, ETC/EAC, cash flow management, variance analysis, and earned value management.
  • Experience developing and maintaining project schedules using Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis, reporting, and data management.
  • Understanding of project accounting and commercial management, including invoicing, revenue tracking, contract administration, and change management.
  • Ability to interpret project performance data, identify risks, and communicate findings to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Assets:

  • Experience with Power BI or similar reporting and data visualization tools.
  • PMP, PMI-SP, AACE, or other relevant project management or project controls certifications.
  • Experience supporting large-scale industrial or multidisciplinary engineering projects.
