We are seeking a Junior Civil Engineer (EIT) who is eager to develop technical expertise and gain hands-on experience within a multidisciplinary EPCM environment. In this role, you will support civil engineering activities on oil and gas facilities and infrastructure projects, contributing to design development, calculations, drafting coordination, and construction support under the guidance of experienced engineers.

What You'll Do
As a Junior Civil Engineer (EIT), you will support the delivery of safe, constructible, and code-compliant civil designs. Your role will include:
Civil Design Support
  • Assist with the design and analysis of earthworks, site grading, roads, drainage systems, and related infrastructure for oil and gas facilities
  • Support the preparation of civil calculations, design checks, engineering reports, and technical documentation
  • Develop engineering sketches and markups for drafting staff to prepare drawings and models
  • Assist with material take-offs (MTOs), quantity estimates, and construction work packages
    Support the review of drawings and project deliverables for accuracy and completeness
Coordination & Team Collaboration
  • Coordinate with process, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and structural disciplines to gather design inputs and resolve interface issues
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from senior engineers and project stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively with internal project teams and support interactions with clients and vendors as required
Project Execution & Delivery
  • Support the delivery of civil engineering deliverables in accordance with project scope, schedule, and quality requirements
  • Assist with vendor data reviews, procurement support activities, and technical clarifications
    Contribute to design optimization efforts, constructability reviews, and project documentation
  • Support the preparation of engineering reports, calculations, and technical deliverables
Construction & Field Support
  • Assist with responses to RFIs, site queries, and engineering clarifications during construction
  • Participate in field reviews, inspections, and site visits as required
  • Support senior engineers in resolving technical issues and ensuring designs remain practical and constructible
Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Follow established engineering quality processes and procedures
  • Support compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications (e.g., CSA, NBC, provincial codes)
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
    Support continuous improvement initiatives within the civil engineering discipline
About You
You are an early-career civil engineer who enjoys practical design work, problem-solving, and learning from experienced multidisciplinary teams. You bring:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (required)
  • Registered as an EIT with APEGA or eligible for registration (required)
    0-4 years of civil engineering experience; EPCM, oil & gas, mining, or municipal infrastructure experience considered an asset
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • A detail-oriented and analytical approach to problem-solving
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment

Technical Foundation
  • Basic understanding of earthworks, grading, and site development principles
  • Familiarity with stormwater drainage systems and associated calculations is considered an asset
  • Understanding of roads, access routes, and civil infrastructure design concepts
  • Exposure to secondary containment systems, liners, underdrains, and related civil infrastructure is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with civil engineering design standards, specifications, and drawing practices
    Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation

Software Proficiency
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Familiarity with Navisworks Freedom or model review software is considered an asset
    Civil 3D experience is considered an asset
  • Exposure to structural analysis software such as RISA or S-Frame is considered an asset

Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Civil Professional Engineer - P.Eng or EIT with APEGA
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in civil earthworks / grading engineering (oil & gas facilities experience preferred)
