About the Opportunity

A leading engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fire Protection Engineer (P.Eng.) to join its growing Fire & Life Safety team in Toronto.

This role is ideal for a mechanical engineer with a strong background in fire protection system design, sprinkler and standpipe systems, fire suppression, and building code compliance. You will work on a diverse portfolio of projects across commercial, residential, healthcare, institutional, industrial, aviation, and mixed-use developments while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design and review fire protection systems including automatic sprinkler, standpipe, hose, and fire suppression systems.
Perform hydraulic calculations and fire protection system sizing.
Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, technical reports, calculations, and design documentation.
Interpret and apply the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, National Building Code of Canada, NFPA standards, and applicable ULC requirements.
Design and evaluate fire protection systems for new construction, renovations, retrofits, and existing buildings.
Conduct site investigations, field reviews, inspections, and commissioning activities.
Review contractor shop drawings and fire protection system submittals.
Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and provide technical support during construction.
