Youth Support Worker - Residential Group Home- WEEKENDS/EVENING SHIFTS

The Youth Support Worker provides safe, structured, and trauma-informed care to children and youth with complex needs in a residential group home. Working primarily weekend and evening shifts, the role supports daily routines, facilitates meaningful programming, monitors safety, documents care, and promotes a respectful, stable environment. The Youth Support Worker reports to the Shift Supervisor and Residential Manager during assigned shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and support to youth in accordance with care plans.
• Monitor safety and maintain a calm, structured residential environment.
• Support daily routines, life-skills development, and educational activities.
• Provide trauma-informed care and build appropriate professional relationships.
• De-escalate challenging behaviours using approved strategies.
• Facilitate recreation, leisure activities, community outings, and weekend and evening programming.
• Complete daily logs, incident reports, and observations using hybrid, electronic, secure database, and paper-based systems.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established protocols.
• Communicate effectively with the Shift Supervisor, Residential Manager, team members, and external professionals.
• Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and accurate care documentation.

Required Qualifications

• At least one year of experience working in youth residential care.
• Post-secondary education in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Developmental Services, Personal Support Work, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting children and youth with complex needs.
• Experience facilitating recreation and leisure, community outings, life-skills development, or educational support.
• Interest in ongoing professional development through paid training, mentorship, clinical development, lead-worker progression, and career advancement.
