We're expanding our facility by 90,000+ sq. ft. and investing in new technology as we continue to build our team and take on new projects. With this growth comes an exciting opportunity for a Shipper to join our growing team.

The Shipper is responsible for coordinating the outbound shipment of steel products to customers or distribution points. This role involves picking and preparing materials for shipment, verifying and documenting items, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring all shipments meet quality, accuracy, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Pick, verify, label, and prepare finished steel products and parts for shipment according to packing slips, work orders, and project requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of active projects and track materials from preparation through shipment.
  • Count, reconcile, and stage products and parts for accurate and efficient loading.
  • Prepare, verify, and maintain shipping documentation, including bills of lading, shipping labels, photographs, and electronic records.
  • Accurately record shipping information in company software and maintain project shipping records and master control lists.
  • Maintain floating inventory and stock of standard parts, including incoming and outgoing materials in the bolt room.
  • Coordinate with yard personnel, forklift operators, and carriers to ensure timely and efficient loading and pickup of materials.
  • Inspect and secure loads using appropriate strapping, blocking, and other materials to prevent damage during transit.
  • Conduct final inspections to verify product quality, quantities, labelling, and shipment accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate shipping logs and inventory records.
  • Communicate with Sales, Production, Project Management, Project Coordination, and Logistics regarding order status, shipping requirements, and special instructions.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Previous experience in shipping or logistics, preferably in a steel or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Forklift and/or crane certification (preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills (ERP system or shipping software knowledge is a plus).

We offer competitive starting wages beginning at $25/hour, with final rates determined by your experience, skill level, and how well you align with the role. We appreciate dedication and commitment, and we conduct thorough performance reviews after three months and annually to acknowledge outstanding work and support employee growth.
