The Rockland Park Homeowners Association (RPHOA) is a not-for-profit corporation responsible for managing, maintaining, and operating community amenities. Safety and quality are top priorities, and employees are committed to consistently exceeding the expectations of Rockland Park residents.Position Summary:The RPHOA is seeking an experienced Skating Instructor to lead classes in recreational skating and/or hockey skills development. This role involves teaching both group and individual sessions for a variety of ages and skill levels, helping participants build confidence and develop their abilities on the ice.For the Winter 2027 season, the instructor will lead skating and hockey classes as follows:
- Hockey Skills: Tuesdays, January 12- March 2, 2027
- Ages 4–6: 5:00 – 5:45 PM.
- Ages 7–11: 6:00 – 7:00 PM.
- Skating Lessons: Mondays and Wednesdays, January 11 – March 3, 2027
- Ages 4–6: 5:00 – 5:45 PM.
- Ages 7–11: 6:00 – 7:00 PM.
- A "Make-up Week" from March 7-13, 2026 is included in contract.
- Lead engaging group and/or individual skating sessions, teaching general skating techniques and/or hockey fundamentals.
- Adapt instruction to accommodate varying skill levels and participant needs.
- Develop and deliver structured lesson plans that are safe, enjoyable, and effective for each age group.
- Incorporate both skating and hockey skill development into sessions.
- Provide individualized guidance, encouragement, and feedback to foster progress and confidence.
- Build positive relationships with participants and families.
- Monitor participant form and technique to promote safety and prevent injuries.
- Conduct assessments as needed to gauge skill progression.
- Stay current on skating instruction techniques and hockey coaching trends.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities as appropriate.
- Proven experience teaching skating, with knowledge of both recreational and hockey instruction.
- Strong communication and motivational skills.
- Ability to engage and inspire participants of all ages and skill levels.
- CanSkate certification or equivalent coaching qualification (preferred).
- First Aid/CPR certification (required).
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently.
- Successful completion of a criminal record and vulnerable sector check (required).
- Class rate, commensurate with experience.
