About the Role

We are seeking an experienced House Manager to lead a 24/7 staffed residential home for adults supported by Community Living BC (CLBC). Our home stands apart from most community living settings in one way: every member of our front-line team is a credentialed healthcare professional. We do not staff with uncertified support workers, and our House Manager must meet the same standard.

The House Manager is accountable for the home's safety, compliance, staffing, and the quality of resident support. This is a hands-on clinical leadership role. You will lead a credentialed team, own CLBC compliance and documentation, and step onto the floor when the home needs you.

Mandatory Requirements (applications without these will not be considered)

Credential (one of the following, active and in good standing):

  • Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with BCCNM (preferred)
  • Health Care Assistant or Community Support Worker certificate from a recognized program, with active registration on the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years in community living, residential care, group home, or developmental disability services
  • Minimum 2 years in a formal supervisory role, including scheduling, performance management, and staff discipline
  • Direct experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities, including complex behaviour support

Certifications and Clearances:

  • Criminal Record Check through the BC Criminal Records Review Program (vulnerable adults)
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
  • Medication administration training, plus working knowledge of MARs and medication error procedures - Medication administration not a requirement but STRONGLY preferred, willing to obtain
  • Non-violent crisis intervention training (CPI, MANDT, or equivalent)
  • FoodSafe Level 1
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver's licence, a clean abstract, and a reliable vehicle

Demonstrated Regulatory Knowledge:

  • CLBC service standards, Critical Incident reporting timelines, and restricted practices requirements
  • Individual Support Plan (ISP) implementation and review
  • Duty-to-report obligations under BC's Adult Guardianship Act
  • WorkSafeBC OHS requirements for residential settings

Duties and Responsibilities

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Maintain full compliance with CLBC contract requirements, organizational policy, and applicable health, safety, and fire regulations
  • Report, investigate, and document Critical Incidents within CLBC timelines
  • Keep the home audit-ready at all times, with care notes, MARs, incident logs, ISPs, and staff files complete and current
  • Conduct and document scheduled safety inspections, fire drills, and emergency preparedness exercises

Clinical Oversight and Resident Support

  • Oversee implementation of each resident's ISP and behaviour support plan, working with CLBC facilitators, case managers, and health professionals
  • Audit medication administration and documentation, and lead the response to any medication error
  • Ensure de-escalation practice and any use of restricted practices stay within approved plans
  • Coordinate health appointments, community access, and life-skills programming

Staff Leadership

  • Build and maintain 24/7 schedules with zero coverage gaps, using credentialed staff only
  • Track staff credentials, registrations, certifications, and renewals, and escalate expiries before they lapse
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate staff against care and documentation standards
  • Run regular team meetings and ongoing training, and support onboarding of new hires

Family and Stakeholder Relations

  • Serve as the primary liaison with residents, families, CLBC, and senior management
  • Resolve complaints and conflicts promptly, and document outcomes

Administration and Property

  • Manage the house budget, petty cash, and resident trust funds, with monthly reconciliation
  • Manage intake, transfer, and discharge documentation
  • Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and landlord and vendor contacts
  • Prepare program, incident, and service-level reports as required

Work Environment

This is an on-site leadership role. It includes participation in an on-call rotation, plus evening, weekend, and holiday coverage as the home requires.

Why Join Us?

You'll lead a fully credentialed team in a home held to a clinical standard most community living settings don't meet. Your leadership will directly shape residents' quality of life, and you'll be backed by an established healthcare organization with the clinical depth to support you.
