Position Summary

West Nipissing General Hospital is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Physician Assistant to join our team and provide clinical support across the Nursing Care Unit, Continuing Complex Care, and Long-Term Care areas.

Working under the supervision and support of a licensed physician, the Physician Assistant will play an integral role within the interdisciplinary healthcare team, contributing to the assessment, examination, treatment, and ongoing management of patients in accordance with the Hospital's policies and procedures and the applicable delegation framework.

The Physician Assistant will work closely with physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, patients, and families to support safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Responsibilities will include conducting patient assessments and examinations, contributing to treatment plans, monitoring patient progress, and following up on abnormal laboratory results, cultures, diagnostic imaging, and other investigations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant education program
• Current National Physician Assistant Certification
• Current membership with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA)
• Eligibility to practice as a Physician Assistant in Ontario in accordance with applicable regulatory and Hospital requirements
• Related clinical experience is considered an asset

• Advanced computer proficiency and the ability to learn and effectively use Hospital-specific software, including Meditech
• Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and effective communication in challenging or high-pressure situations
