Commercial/Industrial Mechanical Estimator

ROYAL MECHANICAL INC is seeking an experienced Commercial/Industrial Mechanical

Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for commercial and industrial

construction projects. This role evaluates project documents, performs detailed takeoffs,

solicits subcontractor and supplier pricing, and develops complete estimates that support

successful project acquisition and execution. The ideal candidate has at least five years of relevant estimating or mechanical construction experience, or a degree in Construction Management or Engineering, along with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Accubid, and Jonas software.

Key Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid requirements for commercial and industrial mechanical projects.
• Prepare detailed labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for plumbing, hydronic piping, HVAC and related systems.
• Obtain and evaluate pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, clarifications, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare bid summaries, proposals, scope letters, and supporting documentation.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, estimate reviews, and project turnover meetings.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, field personnel, clients, and trade partners.
• Maintain current pricing databases, historical cost information, and estimating records.
• Review subcontractor and supplier quotes for scope completeness and accuracy.
• Assist with value engineering, budgeting, conceptual estimates, change-order pricing, and project forecasting.
• Manage multiple estimates and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• At least minimum five years of experience in mechanical estimating, mechanical construction, or a closely related field; or a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of commercial and industrial mechanical systems and construction practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Working knowledge of Accubid estimating software and Jonas construction management software.
• Knowledge of labor productivity, material pricing, subcontractor scopes, and construction sequencing.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet time-sensitive bid deadlines.
• Valid driver's license and ability to attend site visits as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience estimating in plumbing, hydronic piping, HVAC, and mechanical equipment installations.
• Experience with plan-and-specification, hard-bid projects, negotiated and design-build
• Knowledge of applicable plumbing and mechanical codes, safety standards
• Experience developing conceptual budgets and value-engineering alternatives.

Work Environment

This position primarily operates in a professional office environment and may include

occasional visits to active commercial and industrial construction sites. The employee may be

required to review field conditions, climb stairs or ladders, and wear appropriate personal
