Swiss Type Lathe Machinist

Position Summary

The CNC Swiss Type Lathe Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating Multi Axis Citizen CNC turning machines to produce high-precision, tight-tolerance components. This role supports efficient production by selecting and setting tooling, making program and offset adjustments, inspecting parts throughout the machining process, and ensuring all work meets Macfab's quality and safety standards.

Day Shift: Monday - Thursday, 6:00 am to 3:30 pm & Friday, 6:00 am to 10:00 am

Core Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate Swiss-type CNC lathes to produce precision components.
• Set up machines using appropriate tools, guide bushings, collets, fixtures and indicators.
• Load, unload, change and modify programs as required.
• Set and adjust cutting tools, inserts, offsets, feeds and speeds to maintain efficiency and tolerance requirements.
• Monitor machine operation, troubleshoot issues and make minor adjustments as needed.
• Deburr, prepare, measure and inspect parts to ensure dimensions are within tolerance.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions and GD&T requirements.
• Follow safety procedures, maintain a clean work area and perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years' experience setting up and operating CNC Swiss-type lathes.
• Certificate, college degree or other training in CNC machining is an asset.
• Experience with Fanuc and Mitsubishi Swiss-type controls and equipment is a must.
• Familiarity with Mastercam and Alkart CNC Wizard software preferred.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators and gauges.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Previous aerospace experience preferred.
• Previous job shop experience preferred.
