Mobile Crane Operators (Journeymen & Apprentices)

The Position

Oil City Crane Service is hiring Red Seal Journeyman Mobile Crane Operators and Registered Apprentices for our taxi fleet based out of Nisku, AB.

Pay & Benefits

• Red Seal Journeymen: $40.00 – $50.00+ / hour (based on verified seat time and taxi experience)
• Apprentices: $32.00 – $44.00 / hour (commensurate with apprenticeship level and experience)

What the Work Looks Like

• Taxi Crane Operations: Fast-paced, varied daily dispatches across local and regional job sites (not fixed industrial plant or maintenance work).
• Setup & Lifts: Executing site hazard assessments, rig setups, counterweight assembly, and precision lifts across a diverse fleet including all-terrain, rough-terrain, truck cranes, and boom trucks.
• Team Work: Journeymen mentor apprentices on proper rigging, rigging safety, load charts, and real-world seat time; apprentices actively assist with setups, transport, and site communication.

Mandatory Requirements

• Class 1 Driver's License with a clean commercial driving record (Required for all applicants—no exceptions).
• Trade Ticket: Valid Red Seal / Alberta Journeyperson Mobile Crane Ticket OR Registered Alberta Crane Apprentice status.
• Safety Certifications: Standard safety tickets including CSTS-20, ESC General Oilfield Site Orientation, First Aid, and H2S Alive.
• Testing: Ability to pass standard pre-employment fit-for-duty and drug & alcohol screening.
