English Tutor

Proton Learning Centre at Danforth and Victoria Park is seeking a dedicated and passionate English Tutor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing personalized instruction to students in the subject of English including various forms of writing at the high school level (grade 9 to grade 12). This role requires strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and enhancing students' academic performance through tailored tutoring sessions.

Responsibilities include:

• Application of classroom management and teaching skills, specific to English with an emphasis on writing, at the high school level.
• Actively demonstrating a passion, empathy, and patience for helping students to succeed academically.
• Providing small group tutoring sessions in English as a high school subject.
• Assessment of students' progress while adapting teaching methods accordingly to ensure students achieve strong learning outcomes.
• Fostering a supportive and encouraging atmosphere that motivates students to reach their full potential.
• Communicating regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
• Utilizing various teaching techniques to accommodate different learning styles and preferences.
• Maintaining a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.

Job Qualifications:

• Previous teaching/tutoring experience working with children and teenagers in an educational setting is preferred.
• Strong background in tutoring or teaching with demonstrated success in improving student performance is preferred.
• At least 1 year of teaching experience with high school students is preferred.
• Familiarity with the Ontario high school English curriculum is a considerable asset.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively is required
• Strong English Language, critical thinking and communication skills are required.
• Candidates must have a passion for education and a commitment to helping students succeed academically.
• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required.
