Travelling Journeyman Carpenter - Edmonton Based

Atkinson Construction is hiring experienced Journeyman and Red Seal Carpenters based in the Edmonton area who are prepared to travel to projects throughout Alberta.

This role offers the stability of full-time employment with an established, employee-owned Alberta contractor, along with the variety of working on commercial, multi-residential and public-sector construction. It is intended for dependable carpenters who are comfortable working away from home when required and can contribute independently from the time they arrive on site.

We are expanding our permanent field team and looking for people who want more than a short-term assignment. Strong performers will have opportunities to take on greater responsibility as Atkinson continues to grow across Alberta and Western Canada.

What you will do

• Perform commercial concrete formwork, framing, layout and general carpentry
• Read and interpret drawings, specifications and site instructions
• Complete assigned scopes safely and independently
• Work effectively with different project teams and site conditions
• Support Foremen, Superintendents, apprentices and labourers
• Maintain productivity and workmanship while working away from home
• Identify field issues and communicate them promptly
• Follow site-access, security and safety requirements

What we are looking for

• Alberta Journeyman Carpenter Certificate or Interprovincial Red Seal
• Relevant commercial, multi-residential or public-sector construction experience
• Ability to read drawings, perform layout and work independently
• Experience with concrete formwork, foundations, framing or related commercial scopes
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout Alberta
• Availability for overnight stays when assignments require them
• Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
• Strong attendance, adaptability and communication
• Willingness to complete project-specific personnel security screening
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
