Senior Software Developer – CRM / Microsoft Dynamics 365

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer – CRM to support the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee (OPGT) Modernization Program.

The successful candidate will work as part of an integrated support, data, and reporting team, collaborating with internal teams and external/vendor resources. The role will focus on implementing configurations, customizations, integrations, and enhancements within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE) and supporting technologies.

A key area of responsibility will be developing and maintaining Power BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations using data from Dynamics 365, including Customer Engagement (CE) and Finance & Operations (F&O).

Key Responsibilities

Develop, configure, customize, and extend Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE) solutions.

Translate technical specifications, approved designs, and user stories into functional and tested solution components.

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE.

Support the implementation of current and future solution enhancements and releases.

Develop interactive Power BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations based on business requirements.

Analyze complex datasets and provide meaningful insights into business performance and trends.

Ensure the accuracy, quality, consistency, and integrity of reports and data.

Develop reports using data from Dynamics 365 CE and Finance & Operations (F&O).

Support system, integration, and user acceptance testing by resolving defects, validating data, and addressing technical issues.

Participate in deployment activities and provide technical support during post-go-live stabilization.

Work with data extraction, transformation, integration, and reporting processes.

Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge-transfer activities.

Collaborate with developers, solution architects, business analysts, testers, internal teams, and vendor resources.

Follow established architecture, security, development, and technology standards.

Contribute to ongoing enhancements and refinements beyond the Minimum Viable Product (MVP).

Perform other related duties as required.

Mandatory Qualifications

Candidates must have:

5+ years of experience developing and supporting enterprise applications, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE).

Strong proficiency with Power BI, including:

Data modeling

Interactive reports and dashboards

Advanced Power BI functionality

Proven experience developing reports using data from Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE) and Finance & Operations (F&O).

Preferred Qualifications

The following would be considered an asset:

Azure cloud certifications, such as:

Microsoft Azure Fundamentals

Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate

Microsoft Dynamics 365 certifications.

Desired Skills and Experience

Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE

Hands-on experience developing, configuring, and extending Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement solutions.

Experience with Dynamics 365 configurations and customizations, including:

Forms, views, and dashboards

Workflows, business rules, and process automation

Security roles and data-access configurations

Experience developing custom components, plug-ins, and extensions using technologies such as C#/.NET and JavaScript.

Practical knowledge of Microsoft Dataverse, including:

Entity structures and relationships

Data handling and validation

Data integrity

Platform extensibility

Power BI & Reporting

Strong Power BI development experience.

Experience with:

Data modeling

DAX

Power Query

Interactive dashboards and reports

Data gateways

Experience developing reports from Dynamics 365 CE and/or Finance & Operations data.

SQL & Data Integration

Strong SQL skills, including writing complex queries and troubleshooting query performance.

Knowledge of query optimization, indexing, partitioning, and execution plans.

Experience with data extraction from databases, APIs, flat files, and other sources.

Knowledge of data transformation and loading processes.

Familiarity with ETL tools and technologies, including Azure Synapse.

Experience designing logical and physical data models.

Understanding of relationships, hierarchies, efficient data storage, and data retrieval.

Data Warehouse / Lakehouse

Experience developing reports using Data Warehouse or Lakehouse environments.

Strong understanding of:

Data warehousing principles

ETL processes

Experience working within structured enterprise development environments.

Familiarity with Azure DevOps and Azure Repos.

Experience with version control and collaborative development practices.

Experience working in cross-functional teams involving developers, architects, business analysts, testers, internal staff, and external vendors.

Ability to adapt to evolving requirements and support ongoing post-MVP enhancements.

Evaluation Criteria

Candidates will be assessed based on the following areas:

1. Dynamics 365 CE/F&O Development & Reporting – 25%

Hands-on experience designing, developing, configuring, and extending Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE solutions in enterprise environments, including Dynamics 365 customizations, Dataverse, custom development, and reporting using CE and F&O data.

2. Power BI – 25%

Demonstrated experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards, including data modeling, DAX, Power Query, data gateways, and advanced Power BI functionality.

3. Data Integration & Extraction – 20%

Experience with data extraction, transformation, integration, ETL processes, Azure Synapse, data modeling, and efficient data storage and retrieval.

4. Development Practices, Collaboration & Standards – 15%

Experience working within enterprise development environments, following established architecture and security standards, participating in CI/CD and DevOps practices, collaborating across technical and business teams, and documenting technical solutions.

5. Data Warehouse / Lakehouse – 15%

Experience developing reports within Data Warehouse or Lakehouse environments and knowledge of data warehousing, data modeling, ETL, integration, and governance principles.

Knowledge Transfer

The successful candidate will be expected to document work completed and work in progress as part of the support and data team.

Knowledge transfer will be provided to the Project Manager and team members through:

One-on-one meetings

Team meetings

Technical documentation

Azure DevOps Wiki and boards

Knowledge transfer activities will take place throughout the project lifecycle.

Additional Information

Work Location: Toronto, Ontario

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., excluding breaks.

The anticipated start date is subject to security clearance and contract-signing timelines.

The successful candidate must comply with applicable government security, confidentiality, architecture, technology, and operational policies and standards.

The position requires the ability to complete assigned deliverables within established timelines and communicate any material project issues or risks promptly.
