About the Role

We're seeking a hands-on Senior Maintenance Technician to keep our Toronto portfolio of short-term rental units and boutique hotel assets in guest-ready condition. This role executes the preventative maintenance schedule, responds to urgent issues, and completes repairs across our properties. The ideal candidate is a versatile, seasoned, and reliable technician who takes ownership of the work in front of them, documents it well, and is ready to grow into a leadership role.

This is an execution-focused role: the technician completes the preventative maintenance program and supports day-to-day repairs. This role is designed as a growth track: technicians who show strong ownership of their work, sound judgment with vendors, and reliable reporting are the natural pipeline into a manager's role as the program and portfolio grow.

Core Responsibilities

Preventative Maintenance

  • Complete assigned preventative maintenance tasks on schedule for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and appliances (dishwashers, washers, dryers, fridges, etc.)
  • Perform routine property condition inspections: walls, FF&E, exterior space, floors, doors and locks
  • Log all completed work and findings in the maintenance tracking system
  • Flag recurring issues and recommended fixes and contribute input on how the preventative maintenance schedule could be improved

Day-to-Day Maintenance

  • Respond to urgent maintenance issues, including participation in the on-call rotation
  • Conduct pre- and post-guest-stay inspections to confirm hospitality-grade readiness
  • Perform hands-on repairs: HVAC components (filters, thermostats, minor repairs), basic electrical work, plumbing repairs, carpentry, drywall, and painting
  • Install and repair appliances, washing machines and dryers, and access control (keys, FOBs)
  • Troubleshoot issues across units quickly and independently

Vendor and Contractor Support

  • Meet, escort, and oversee vendors on site (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, appliance repair, pest control)
  • Verify vendor work is completed properly and report quality issues
  • Provide input on vendor quality and reliability to support future vendor selection decisions

Warehouse and Facility Support

  • Maintain and repair equipment at central facilities
  • Support unit readiness by coordinating with Operations and Guest Experience teams

Mentorship & Escalation

  • Act as a technical point of escalation for other maintenance technicians on complex repairs
  • Help onboard and mentor junior technicians on standards, tools, and documentation practices

Key Qualifications

Required

  • Valid Ontario driver's license (G class) and reliable vehicle
  • 2+ years in property maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a similar trade role
  • Hands-on experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites
  • Strong documentation habits and clear communication

Preferred

  • Experience with property management & maintenance tracking software
  • Short term rental, multifamily, or hotel portfolio experience
  • Interest in growing into a program-ownership or people-leadership role

Growth Path

Strong performers can advance into the Maintenance Manager role, where scope shifts from execution to ownership: designing and running the preventative maintenance program, sourcing and negotiating vendor agreements, owning compliance and cost reporting, and eventually extending oversight to our New York City portfolio. Compensation is adjusted accordingly at that level.
