Lauren Services is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Designer with 4 to 7 years of experience in an EPC, EPCM, or engineering consulting environment supporting oil and gas midstream, pipeline, and industrial facility projects. This role is suited to a technically capable, up-and-coming designer who is ready to take greater ownership of electrical and controls deliverables while continuing to strengthen their technical judgment and multidisciplinary coordination skills. The successful candidate will support multiple concurrent brownfield projects, including facility modifications, compressor and pump station upgrades, meter station expansions, power distribution improvements, equipment replacements, and other small capital work. This is a hands-on design position requiring practical experience in both electrical power and controls systems, strong digital design capabilities, and the ability to progress assigned work with limited supervision in a fast-paced project environment.

You will work across a varied portfolio of brownfield projects, collaborate directly with experienced technical professionals, and take responsibility for design deliverables from early development through field execution.

• Take ownership of assigned electrical and controls design deliverables, progressing work with limited supervision and engaging technical leads when appropriate.
• Complete detailed electrical and controls design for oil and gas midstream, pipeline, and industrial facility projects.
• Prepare and maintain design deliverables, including:
  • Cable tray layouts
  • Lighting and grounding plans
  • Power and electrical equipment layouts
  • Electrical equipment and load lists
  • Single-line diagrams
  • Schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Control panel layouts
  • Cable schedules and routing drawings
  • I/O and loop drawings
  • Area classification drawings
  • Electrical installation details
  • 3D models and associated design information
• Develop and review controls documentation, including:
  • Control panel bills of materials
  • Wiring diagrams
  • P&IDs
  • I/O documentation
  • Loop drawings
• Perform and verify electrical design calculations, including:
  • Voltage drop
  • Lighting levels
  • Cable tray fill
  • Heat trace wattage
• Populate, maintain, and validate electrical load lists and cable schedules.
• Review existing drawings, field information, and project documentation to identify scope gaps, design constraints, and potential conflicts.
• Develop practical and constructible designs that account for existing facility conditions, operational requirements, and brownfield interfaces.
• Support field verification and incorporate confirmed site conditions into design deliverables.
• Apply digital workflows to prepare, review, communicate, and incorporate design markups and redlines.
• Review layouts and drawing packages for scope alignment, technical accuracy, constructability, consistency, and presentation quality.
• Maintain design integrity and quality control across assigned deliverables.
• Coordinate electrical and controls requirements across instrumentation, process, piping, mechanical, civil, and structural disciplines.
• Support 3D model development, model reviews, and multidisciplinary design coordination.
• Contribute to design reviews by identifying coordination concerns and recommending practical solutions.
• Communicate progress, information requirements, technical risks, and schedule constraints clearly and proactively.
• Support projects through design development, construction, commissioning, and field execution.
• Manage deliverables across multiple small to mid-sized projects while meeting quality and schedule expectations.

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related discipline. A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering may be considered when accompanied by relevant hands-on electrical design experience.
• 4 to 7 years of electrical design experience within an EPC, EPCM, or engineering consulting environment.
• Experience supporting oil and gas midstream, pipeline, or comparable industrial facility projects.
• Hands-on experience supporting brownfield modifications and upgrades within operating facilities.
• Demonstrated design experience in both electrical power and controls systems. Candidates may have greater depth in one area, but practical project experience in both is required.
• Experience preparing coordinated electrical and controls design deliverables, including layouts, drawings, schedules, lists, and supporting calculations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage deliverables across multiple small to mid-sized projects at the same time.
• Strong working knowledge of:
  • Electrical power distribution systems
  • MCCs, VFDs, and motor control systems
  • Grounding and bonding systems
  • Industrial lighting systems
  • Hazardous area classifications
  • Control panels and wiring systems
  • Instrumentation and controls interfaces
  • Electrical installations within operating facilities
• Proficiency with digital design, drawing review, and markup workflows using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, CADWorx, Plant 3D, or comparable engineering software.
• Ability to efficiently produce, review, and incorporate electronic redlines within a controlled document workflow.
• Experience coordinating design work within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong attention to detail, technical problem-solving ability, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to take ownership of assigned deliverables while recognizing when technical guidance or review is required.

• Experience supporting compressor stations, pump stations, meter stations, or pipeline facilities.
• Experience using Elecdes software.
• Experience with CADWorx, Plant 3D, or comparable 3D design platforms.
• Experience with 3D modelling and multidisciplinary model coordination.
• Experience using data-centric or database-driven engineering design workflows, such as:
  • SmartPlant
  • Intergraph applications
  • Microsoft Access
  • Power BI
• Familiarity with CSA requirements and the Canadian Electrical Code.
• Experience supporting field verification, construction, commissioning, or facility start-up activities.
