About Family Innovation Corporation
Family Innovation Corp. (FIC) is a multi-family office providing multiple services, including estate planning, risk management, financial counsel, trusteeship, investment advice, and other services.
We recognize excellent relationship management, accurate, actionable, and sound advice, and the desire to deliver the best quality work, improving the groups overall performance and increasing its value-added capacities.
Summary
We are recruiting on behalf of one of our portfolio companies for an Executive Associate to the Chief Executive Officer, who leads a large, fast-moving, multi-state healthcare business. This role is designed to ensure that nothing the CEO touches gets dropped.
You will serve as his right hand, managing the day-to-day mechanics of his working life so he can focus his attention where it matters most. This includes managing his calendar and inbox, preparing for meetings, coordinating board and investor materials, and, most importantly, tracking commitments and following up to ensure that nothing falls through the cracks.
This is a role for someone who is highly meticulous and takes pride in getting things right. The CEO is managing a great deal at once, and the value you bring is the confidence that when something is handed to you, it will be handled accurately, completely, and without needing a second reminder.
In return, you will gain an experience that is difficult to replicate: daily exposure to an experienced operator in US healthcare and a direct view into how a thousand-person clinical business is run, financed, and governed. For the right person, this role can serve as a launching pad into a broader role within the company.
Role Overview
Manage the CEO's time
- Own a complex, multi-time-zone calendar; prioritize ruthlessly, resolve conflicts before they surface, and protect focus time
- Coordinate US and domestic travel, logistics, and expenses
- Triage the inbox — surface what matters, draft replies, and ensure nothing goes unanswered
Make sure nothing is dropped
- Maintain a live, accurate record of the CEO's commitments, deadlines, and open items
- Capture decisions and action items out of every meeting and drive them to completion across the leadership team
- Follow up persistently and professionally with internal leaders, clinicians, partners, and advisors
- Flag what is slipping before it becomes a problem
Prepare him for every room
- Build the pre-read: agenda, background, and the key points he needs walking in
- Prepare and format board decks, investor updates, and internal presentations
- Organize board and committee materials and support corporate records
- Draft correspondence, briefing notes, and summaries in his voice
Support the work itself
- Research markets, partners, competitors, and regulatory developments; deliver a clear one-pager, not a pile of links
- Build straightforward analyses and trackers in Excel
- Own discrete projects end to end as your judgment earns them
Hold the confidence of the office
- Serve as a reliable, discreet point of contact for the board, investors, partners, and senior staff
- Handle confidential clinical, financial, and personnel information with complete discretion
Required Skills or Experience
Non-negotiable
- Meticulous accuracy. You proofread. You check the date, the number, and the spelling of the name. You do not send something you have not verified.
- Relentless follow-up. Nothing assigned to you is forgotten, and nothing assigned by you is left to chance.
- Exceptional organization. You keep a system, and the system holds under pressure.
- Absolute discretion with confidential and sensitive information.
Required
- A university degree in business, health sciences, or a comparable program
- A self-starter and fast learner. There is a great deal to absorb here: US healthcare, a multi-state operating model, a clinical workforce, and a complex regulatory environment. You are expected to learn it, largely on your own initiative
- Excellent written and verbal communication; you can draft something the CEO will send without rewriting it
- Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills
- Comfort with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and a pace that does not slow down
- Sound judgment about what deserves the CEO's attention and what does not
- Willingness to work hours that overlap the US Eastern time zone
An asset
- Exposure to healthcare, life sciences, or another regulated industry
- Internship or early-career experience in consulting, banking, private equity, or a high-growth company
- Familiarity with CRM, project management, or AI productivity tools
Who thrives here
You are hungry and humble. You are unbothered by work that looks small, because you understand that proximity is the education and that reliability is how trust is earned. You ask sharp questions, take feedback without flinching, and would rather be handed more than less.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary: $120,000
- Direct, daily mentorship from a physician-CEO with deep expertise in the US healthcare market
- Exposure to the senior leadership team, the board, investors, and partners
- A genuine understanding of how a multi-state clinical business operates — care delivery, regulatory, finance, and corporate development
- A defined path: scope and title are formally reviewed at twelve months, with the intent that a strong performer moves toward a broader mandate in the company
Position Type
- Nature: Permanent, Full-time
- Time Commitment: High-commitment position with the requirement for extensive overtime as needed
- Work Location: Burnaby, BC
