Our client is a well-established global manufacturer of engineered mechanical piping and fire protection solutions used across commercial, institutional, industrial and infrastructure projects.
The company provides a broad portfolio of products used in water-based fire protection systems, including mechanical pipe-joining systems, fittings, valves, sprinklers, flexible connections, flow-control products and engineered fire protection assemblies.
We are seeking a Fire Protection Business Development Representative to expand the company's presence throughout Greater Vancouver and British Columbia.
This is a technical, specification-driven business development role focused on building relationships with Fire Protection Engineers, consulting engineers, building owners, developers and senior decision-makers. The successful candidate will engage stakeholders early in the project lifecycle, influence specifications and help position engineered solutions based on technical and commercial value.
Responsibilities
Business & Market Development
  • Develop relationships with building owners, developers, Fire Protection Engineers, consulting firms and senior industry decision-makers.
  • Identify major commercial, institutional, industrial and infrastructure opportunities throughout the territory.
  • Engage stakeholders during the planning and design stages, well ahead of procurement.
  • Build long-term relationships throughout Vancouver's fire protection and engineering community.
Engineering & Specification Development
  • Work closely with Fire Protection Engineers and mechanical consultants to understand project requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations and project-specific meetings.
  • Support specification development, product approvals and design considerations.
  • Provide technical and application guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Become a trusted technical resource within the local engineering community.
Technical Solution Selling
Develop strong knowledge of fire protection technologies including:
  • Mechanical pipe-joining systems, couplings and fittings
  • Fire protection, control and isolation valves
  • Sprinklers and flexible sprinkler connections
  • Wet, dry, preaction and deluge system components
  • Pressure and flow-control solutions
  • Engineered fire protection assemblies
Clearly communicate how these solutions can improve installation productivity, project schedules, safety, reliability, maintenance and lifecycle cost.
Strategic Account & Project Development
  • Build relationships with owners, developers, executives, engineering leaders and project managers.
  • Develop technical and commercial business cases demonstrating project value and ROI.
  • Navigate complex sales cycles involving owners, consultants, contractors and distribution.
  • Maintain involvement from initial design and specification through procurement and construction.
We are looking for someone who combines technical fire protection knowledge with strong relationship-building and business development skills.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of fire protection systems, products and applications.
  • Experience selling or developing business within fire protection, mechanical construction or a closely related technical market.
  • Existing relationships within the Greater Vancouver fire protection, engineering, owner or construction community are highly desirable.
  • Experience working with consulting engineers and influencing specifications is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings, specifications and engineering requirements.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to engage both engineers and senior executives.
  • Proven ability to manage long-term, multi-stakeholder business development cycles.
