Position Overview:

As an Accounting Assistant, you will primarily support accounts payable and reconciliations, ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions. You will report directly to the Accountant. This is a contract position with the potential for full-time conversion based on performance.

Responsibilities:

• Process accounts payable transactions including verifying, coding, and entering invoices
• Assist with monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
• Support accurate record-keeping and maintain financial files and documentation
• Assist in preparing reports and summaries as needed
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve invoice and payment discrepancies
• Deposit cash and cheques collected, and keep track of the deposits
• Support the Accountant and Director of Finance with other accounting-related tasks as assigned.
  

Qualifications:

• 1–3 years of experience in an accounting or finance support role
• Strong understanding of accounts payable and general accounting principles
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar)
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with CRM software are required.
• Knowledge of and passion for humanitarian and charitable work is an asset.
  

Working Conditions:

• Full-time contract, hybrid role
• Temp-to-hire with potential to convert to a permanent position based on performance and organizational needs.
