Hourly Pay: $31 to $34 per hour.
JOB PURPOSEReporting to the IT Manager, the IT Generalist is responsible and accountable for analyzing network speed and performance, and making sure any hardware & software's upgrades are performed as required. They ensure employees who use company software and hardware stay as productive as possible by making interfaces streamlined and user-friendly.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assisting IT Manager for the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software implementation
- Assessing a company's information system and identifying gaps that need to be addressed
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and administer firewalls, local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), servers and computer workstations.
- Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency), test for weaknesses, provide suggestions for improvement, and organize maintenance activities.
- Maintain optimal services in accordance with company standards and expectations.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain software and hardware. Such as computers, printers, servers, operating systems etc.
- Regularly check to ensure that systems are up-to-date. Install critical updates across networked assets to limit the organizations security exposure.
- Maintain licenses and upgrade schedules.
- Develop and abide by protocols for the use of IT across departments and projects.
- Ensuring all systems run smoothly and efficiently
- Ensuring security and privacy measures are in place
- Support IT Manager in Monitoring security certificates and ensure the organization's compliance with requirements
- Troubleshooting and providing technical support to the company staff whenever needed.
- Facilitate staff onboarding for initial setup and training
- Install, Upgrade and Maintain service availability for all computer stations
- Manage daily user's requests and assigned activities by the manager
- Collect and analyze data to help the IT manager to identify areas for improvement within an organization's IT infrastructure
- Develop quality assurance procedures and tests for the development and improvement of new and existing systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on computer systems.
- Ensuring the integrity of data storage and backup systems
- Monitoring security tools and identifying potential security risks
- Managing the configuration of operating systems
- Anticipating potential problems and resolving them before they impact users when possible
- Tracking user behaviour to improve future versions of company software
- Other duties as assigned.
- University degree in Computer Science or relevant engineering degree.
- Must have a valid passport and be able to travel to US frequently as per business needs.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience as an IT Specialist experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Direct Experience Implementing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software in an industrial service and/or manufacturing environment
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows, Cisco, Fortinet, HP.
- Familiarity with Infor Visual Manufacturing and is an asset.
- High degree of analytical skill, root cause analysis, process of elimination and problem solving
- Highly organized, excellent in time management and ability to prioritize daily tasks
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing teams and developing talent.
- Advanced negotiation skills with a proven track record of cost savings and supplier management.
- Advanced knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies (HPE switches).
- Strong knowledge of IT standards, policies and procedures.
- Advanced experience with Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory (on-prem).
- Knowledge of data security best practices.
- Proficient in troubleshooting hardware/software and system integration
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in contract management and supplier agreements.
