Electrical Designer and Robotic Programming Technician

Our client is an established manufacturer and integrator of industrial automation equipment, delivering sophisticated automated systems to customers across North America and internationally. They are looking for an experienced Electrical Design & Robot Programming Technician to take ownership of controls and automation projects from design and programming through commissioning and customer support.

Who We're Looking For

A hands-on controls and automation professional comfortable across PLCs, HMIs, robotics, electrical controls, and equipment commissioning. Someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems and seeing their systems come to life in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop programs for PLCs, HMIs, robotics, sensors, and automation controls
• Prepare electrical drawings, bills of materials, and engineering documentation
• Participate in preliminary equipment and controls design
• Develop, implement, and support robotic systems and related software
• Troubleshoot programming, controls, and equipment issues
• Provide remote and onsite programming and technical support
• Install, integrate, and commission equipment at customer facilities
• Participate in equipment safety reviews and customer training
• Support hands-on control panel and equipment wiring as needed
• Research and implement new automation technologies
• Develop installation, maintenance, training, and programming documentation

Qualifications

• Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering Degree strongly preferred (relatable education with highly relevant experience also considered)
• 5+ years of electrical controls design and programming
• Expert-level AutoCAD
• Strong robot programming experience, including RAPID or equivalent
• Experience with PLC programming, HMIs, robotics, and industrial automation
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and Canadian Electrical Standards
• Advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to travel up to 50% (most local to GTA, occasional international)
• Valid Driver's Licence and Passport
• Ability to work overtime and weekends when required
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
