We are currently recruiting Carpenter's Apprentices to assist with the construction of various commercial buildings throughout Edmonton. Carpenters with concrete formwork or GC carpentry experience preferred. Non-ticketed carpenters will also be considered.

Duties:

  • Building forms, pouring concrete
  • Operating hand tools, power actuated tools as required to perform tasks including inspecting and ensuring proper, safe use.
  • Installing heating/hoarding, temporary fencing, guardrails, handrails and barriers as required.
  • Participating in daily tool-box talks.
  • Reviewing and preparing daily Field Level Hazard Assessments.
  • Participating in weekly safety meetings.
  • Ensuring proper Personal Protective Equipment is used for all tasks.
  • Advising supervision of unsafe conditions or acts that may be a hazard or danger to self and other workers.
  • Reading blueprints and/or getting instructions from supervision.
  • Preparing layout including selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work.
  • Installing shoring.
  • Removing/stripping forms.
  • Ensuring work areas are kept clean and free of hazards.
  • Ensuring tools and equipment are returned to job boxes and tool cribs.
  • Reporting all incidents, “near miss” incidents including damage/non-damage, injury/non-injury incidents.

Working Conditions:

  • Minimum of 44 hours per week. Start and end times vary from site to site. OT as required. OT paid out at time and a half after 44 hours per week. Weekends as required.
  • Two paid 15 minutes breaks and one ½ hour unpaid lunch break per day.
  • Exposure to cold/hot weather. Appropriate dress required for weather conditions.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, pollution.
  • Exposure to hazards such as heights, power tools, slips, falls, falling objects, sharp hand tools.
  • Ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Own Tools.
  • Ability to lift between 11 and 25 kg.

  • Trades certification and/or registered in the trade if applying for an Apprentice position.
