Laboratory Technologist - Oilfield Cementing

The Opportunity:
The Technologist - Laboratory will report directly to Manager - Laboratory and will be located at our Grande Prairie facility. The technologist will carry out duties as directed by the senior members of the team or Manager and will be expected to carry out daily testing requirements in an efficient and accurate manner.

The Technologist - Laboratory is responsible for ensuring the quality, durability, and reliability of cement used in critical applications such as wellbore integrity and zonal isolation. This role tests cement blends to ensure they meet engineering specifications by adhering to procedures and calibration standards as set out in API schedule 10B. The Technologist - Laboratory role is also responsible for upholding exemplary safety standards and data reliability.

General Responsibilities:
• Perform routine cement lab testing in the areas of well service cementing
• Understand the operation, calibration, and maintenance of specified lab instruments
• Be able to obtain, document and submit accurate results in a clear and concise format to the Engineering team
• Ensure and maintain documented compliance with Sanjel Energy's Quality Programs and related operational standards.
• Successfully deliver small projects while working closely with senior staff to ensure objectives, timelines, and quality standards are met
• Be able to work and operate within the lab under minimal supervision when required
• On-call and overtime is required to support operations and business needs.
• This position will be required to work off-set hours

Qualifications:
• Chemistry or Petroleum related Diploma or Degree
• Able to work varying shifts and on-call schedules
• Strong interest in solving chemical/engineering challenges
• Agile and enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
• Experienced in optimizing and continually improving processes, utilizing data management systems
• Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules and/or operating and maintenance procedures/manuals
• Ability to understand instructions in written, oral or diagram form
• Class 5 driver's license with clean drivers abstract
