Compensation: $29.00–$34.00 per hour About the Opportunity Our client is a healthcare organization providing specialized pharmacy and infusion-related services. They are currently seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join their cleanroom and pharmacy production team in Calgary on a 12-month contract basis.
Reporting to the Cleanroom Supervisor and working under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacists, the Cleanroom Technician will be responsible for the accurate and aseptic preparation of sterile drug admixtures, along with supporting prescription processing, production, quality control, labelling, packaging, and cleanroom operations.
The successful candidate will be highly detail-oriented, comfortable working within a regulated environment, and able to consistently follow established procedures and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile prescriptions and drug admixtures using appropriate aseptic techniques and established procedures.
- Follow detailed preparation instructions and applicable pharmacy standards to ensure accuracy and product quality.
- Support order entry, prescription processing, label verification, production staging, and final packaging activities.
- Perform required product, syringe, labelling, and final checks.
- Assist with inventory management and ensure materials and supplies are properly maintained and available for production.
- Complete cleanroom cleaning, sanitation, and decontamination activities in accordance with established protocols.
- Monitor and follow quality assurance procedures throughout the production process.
- Identify discrepancies, quality concerns, or process issues and escalate them appropriately.
- Manage competing priorities and adjust workflow based on production requirements.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professional judgment.
- Collaborate closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other internal teams to maintain an efficient workflow.
- Communicate professionally with patients or external contacts when required.
- Maintain all required training, certifications, health and safety requirements, and documentation.
- Follow all applicable regulatory, confidentiality, health and safety, and workplace policies.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support process efficiencies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
- Pharmacy Technician diploma from an accredited Canadian pharmacy technician program.
- Registered, or eligible for registration, with the Alberta College of Pharmacy.
- Must maintain the appropriate registration/licensure required to practice as a regulated pharmacy technician in Alberta.
- Previous IV preparation or sterile compounding experience is considered an asset.
- Experience working in a cleanroom, compounding pharmacy, hospital, infusion pharmacy, or other regulated healthcare setting is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy technology and aseptic preparation techniques.
