Building Envelope Engineer / Designer

We are looking for a Building Envelope Engineer / Designer to join a growing consulting team in Winnipeg. This is an opportunity for someone with experience in building envelope, building science, restoration, or building design who wants to work on a diverse range of new construction and existing building projects. The successful candidate will be involved in the design, investigation, assessment, and rehabilitation of building envelope systems, working closely with architects, engineers, contractors, owners, and other consultants.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Design and develop building envelope systems and assemblies for new construction and renovation projects
- Work with systems including:
- Exterior walls and cladding
- Roofing systems
- Windows and doors
- Curtain wall
- Waterproofing
- Air and vapour barriers
- Insulation and thermal protection
- Conduct building condition assessments and investigations
- Investigate issues such as water infiltration, moisture, condensation, thermal bridging, and envelope deficiencies
- Perform field reviews, site inspections, and construction observations
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, details, and repair recommendations
- Develop solutions for building envelope rehabilitation and restoration projects
- Review shop drawings, product submissions, RFIs, and contractor documentation
- Coordinate building envelope requirements with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines
- Participate in client meetings and provide technical recommendations
- Assist with project scopes, budgets, proposals, and schedules
- Provide technical support throughout construction and help resolve field issues
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to the continued development of the building envelope practice
What We're Looking For:
- Degree, diploma, or technical education in Civil Engineering, Building Science, Architectural Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline
- 3+ years of experience in building envelope, building science, restoration, construction, or consulting
- Practical understanding of building enclosure systems and construction methods
- Strong understanding of building science principles, including heat, air, and moisture movement
- Experience with building envelope assessments, investigations, design, or rehabilitation
- Ability to interpret architectural and construction drawings
- Experience preparing technical documentation, reports, specifications, and/or construction details
- Strong communication and technical writing skills
- Comfortable working both in the office and on construction sites
- Knowledge of Canadian building codes and relevant industry standards
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit is an asset
- P.Eng., EIT, or eligibility for professional registration is an asset
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
