Location: Cornwall Road, Oakville, ON

Summary

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for sign-related projects, including materials, labor, and equipment, based on design proposals, quotations, technical drawings, and project specifications.

The Estimator role involves collaborating with designers, engineers, project managers, and external vendors to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.

The primary responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for sign fabrication and installation based on project requirements, contract bids, quotations, and technical drawings.
• Analyze project specifications and propose cost-effective material and manufacturing alternatives.
• Obtain, review and negotiate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors for raw materials, installation services, and specialty fabrication.
• Calculate installation costs based on site conditions, equipment requirements, and crew logistics.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including design, engineering, project management, and sales, to align estimates with project feasibility and execution strategies.
• Review and verify engineering drawings, ensuring designs align with production capabilities and installation methods.
• Conduct research on historical costs, market trends, and emerging materials.
• Prepare bid submissions and detailed reports for clients and management.
• Generate cost reports for program-based and custom sign projects, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.
• Maintain industry knowledge of digital signage, LED technology, and construction techniques.
• Conduct site visits as required to assess project conditions, installation challenges, and execution feasibility.
• Other additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Academic Training:

• Completion of secondary school is required.
• A diploma or degree in construction management, engineering technology, or a related field is preferred.

Work Experience:

• 1+ years of proven experience as an Estimator.
• Experience within the sign industry or a similar manufacturing and construction-based industry is an asset.

Specific Competencies:

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with estimating software or CAD viewing tools.
• Knowledge of materials used in signage, including aluminum, acrylic, LED lighting, vinyl, and structural components.
• Familiarity with reading and interpreting technical drawings, elevations, and shop drawings.
• Experience in cost research, historical cost analysis, and supplier negotiations.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make data-driven decisions regarding project costing.
• Open to traveling to project sites to assess conditions and support installation and execution activities.
