Superintendent - Western Canada

Location: Lethbridge, Canada (with travel across Western Canada)

Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000

Job Summary

The Site Superintendent leads and oversees all field operations for assigned projects and is accountable for delivering the work safely, on schedule, and to the required standard of quality. The current focus is the ground-up construction of a large-format warehouse and retail facility valued at $30M+. The Superintendent runs the day-to-day on site, coordinating trades and crews, managing the field schedule, and working closely with the Project Manager and client to keep the project moving from start to finish.

This is a traveling role. The Superintendent will be required to travel to projects on a rotation of 10 days on and 4 days off, with projects located throughout Western Canada.

To be successful in this role, the candidate should be a hands-on field leader who sets the pace on site and holds crews and trades to a high standard without the need for oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and supervises all on-site construction activities from mobilization through to completion and handover.
  • Manages the field schedule, sequencing trades and crews to keep the project on time and on budget.
  • Serves as the on-site point of contact for trades, suppliers, consultants, and inspectors.
  • Works closely with the Project Manager on planning, procurement timing, and resolution of field issues.
  • Enforces quality standards and ensures work is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, and codes.
  • Leads and enforces the site safety program, ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health & Safety Acts applicable to the province in which the project is being executed.
  • Conducts regular site inspections, maintains daily field reports, and tracks progress against the schedule.
  • Provides leadership and direction to General Foremen, Foremen, and site crews.

    Skills & Qualifications

  • At least ten years of progressively responsible field experience on commercial or ICI construction projects.
  • Proven experience running large-format retail, warehouse, or big-box builds is an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction standards, methods, assemblies, plans, specifications, regulations, and codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the full field schedule and coordinate multiple trades at once.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to hold crews and sub-trades accountable.
  • Excellent communication skills with management, crews, sub-trades, and inspectors.
  • Diligent and keen attention to detail, with a strong safety-first mindset.
  • Ability to execute reliably in a fast-paced field environment.

Compensation & Benefits

In addition to a competitive salary of $150,000 to $180,000, we offer comprehensive benefit coverage, RRSP matching, company events and socials, training and development opportunities, and more.
