Key Responsibilities:
  • Follow all safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash protection, and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Utilize available automation technology to increase equipment productivity, safety, and reliability.
  • Develop SCADA dashboards to display equipment performance and status.
  • Investigate issues, identify root causes, determine corrective and preventive actions, and follow up on any deviations.
  • Participate in and cooperate with all internal and external audits.
  • Apply technical expertise during equipment breakdowns and new installations.
  • Perform setup and calibration of process equipment and control instrumentation as required.
  • Determine and program parameters for VFDs and servo drives.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a hot, humid, and loud work environment.
  • Must be available to work flexible shifts.
  • Will be required to adhere to food safety GMPs.
  • Occasional travel within the GTA.
Experience & Education:
  • 2 plus years of work experience in the Controls and Automation field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma.
  • Certification in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and related automation equipment would be an asset.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SLC), HMI, VFD, and servo programming.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, Modbus, ProfiBus, and MQTT.
  • Experience with the Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA system.
  • Exposure to CMMS (Maximo 9) systems.
  • Strong understanding of industrial networking and VLANs.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, HTML, C/C++, and SQL.
  • Experience with robotics, vision systems, and barcode readers.
  • Experience with other platforms would be an asset (OMRON, Mitsubishi, AutomationDirect, and Siemens).
  • Knowledge of setting up and using virtual machines (VMware, Hyper-V).
The annual salary range for applicants is: $67,700 - $100,000, which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other factors.
