Independent Contractor (As Needed) | Canada - Virtual and In-Person Training Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) is a not-for-profit national trade association that represents and advocates for member companies in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration industry (HVACR). Our members include manufacturers, wholesalers, contractors, and other industry professionals. We have been around for more than 50 years and, believe it or not, are still growing! We are looking for experienced bilingual HVACR professionals to join our national instructor team as Independent Contractors. This opportunity is ideal for industry professionals who enjoy sharing their expertise, supporting the next generation of HVACR professionals, and contributing to high-quality technical education across Canada. As an HVACR Technical Instructor / Subject Matter Expert, you will deliver technical training, support curriculum development, provide subject matter expertise, and represent HRAI within the industry. What You Will Do * Deliver engaging in-person and virtual technical training programs * Facilitate classroom discussions, practical learning activities, and participant assessments * Provide technical guidance and support learner success throughout the training experience * Review and update existing course materials to reflect current industry practices, codes, and standards * Contribute to the development of new education programs, course content, and learning resources * Serve as a subject matter expert in your areas of technical expertise * Provide technical guidance related to HVACR systems, building science, mechanical design, and applicable codes and standards * Support HRAI technical committees, codes and standards committees, and other industry initiatives * Participate in conferences, meetings, and industry events as required * Support and promote HRAI education programs and technical leadership across the industry What You Bring * Fluency in both English and French, spoken and written * A minimum of ten years of experience in the HVACR industry * Strong technical knowledge in one or more HVACR disciplines * Experience delivering technical training, instruction, or adult education * Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills * The ability to engage learners and communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively Nice to Have Experience in any of the following would be an asset, but is not required: * Commercial HVACR experience * Experience developing technical curriculum or training materials * HRAI certifications or other recognized industry credentials * Knowledge of current Canadian codes, standards, and industry best practices Areas of Technical Expertise We welcome applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: * Residential HVAC Systems * Commercial HVAC Systems * Refrigeration Systems * Heat Pump Technologies * Mechanical System Design * Heat Loss & Heat Gain Calculations * Ventilation & Indoor Air Quality * Building Science * Hydronics * Controls & Automation Contract Details * This is an Independent Contractor opportunity, with instructors engaged on an as-needed basis throughout the year * Training assignments are offered based on program demand, instructor availability, and technical expertise * Compensation is provided in accordance with the HRAI Instructor Agreement * Instructors have the flexibility to accept assignments based on their availability * Travel within Canada may be required for certain training engagements Why Join Us? * Industry Impact: Help shape the future of HVACR education in Canada and support the continued advancement of the workforce * Share Your Expertise: Bring your technical knowledge and experience to industry professionals across the country * Flexible Assignments: Accept training opportunities based on your availability, program demand, and areas of expertise * Professional Network: Work alongside recognized technical experts and expand your connections across the HVACR industry * Contribute to Education: Support the development and delivery of industry-leading technical training programs How to Apply Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume along with a brief summary of their technical expertise and instructional experience.
