Custom Cabinetmaker / Millwork Fabricator Location: Halifax, NS
Pay: $30.00–$35.00/hour
Shift: Day Shift
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
We are looking for an experienced Custom Cabinetmaker / Millwork Fabricator to join an established commercial millwork team in Halifax. This is a hands-on shop position focused on building custom and one-of-a-kind commercial millwork. Projects can include reception desks, custom counters, cabinetry, architectural features, built-ins, fixtures, and unique or unusually shaped pieces.
This is not a CNC production role. We are looking for someone with traditional cabinetmaking and woodworking skills who enjoys taking a drawing and figuring out how to turn it into a finished product.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Build and assemble custom commercial cabinetry and architectural millwork
  • Fabricate reception desks, counters, built-ins, fixtures, cabinetry, and custom-shaped pieces
  • Read and work from shop drawings, plans, measurements, and specifications
  • Measure, lay out, cut, shape, fit, and assemble materials
  • Determine how to build unique or unusually shaped pieces
  • Operate woodworking equipment including table saws, planers, drill presses, shapers, routers, mitre saws, and sanders
  • Use hand and power tools for fabrication, fitting, assembly, and finishing
  • Install hardware and complete finishing and edge work as required
  • Troubleshoot fit and fabrication challenges throughout the build
  • Ensure finished products meet quality and dimensional requirements
  • Maintain a clean and safe shop environment
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience in cabinetmaking, custom woodworking, architectural millwork, or commercial millwork fabrication
  • Strong hands-on woodworking and fabrication skills
  • Experience building custom pieces from drawings, not simply assembling pre-manufactured cabinets
  • Ability to read shop drawings and work accurately from measurements
  • Experience with traditional woodworking machinery
  • Strong measuring, cutting, fitting, and assembly skills
  • Knowledge of woodworking materials, hardware, fastening methods, and joinery
  • Ability to think through a build and solve fabrication challenges
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
CNC experience is NOT required. What's Offered
  • $30.00–$35.00/hour
  • Straight day shift
  • Permanent, full-time position
  • Health and dental benefits
  • GRRSP matching program
  • Vacation and holidays
  • Stable, long-term opportunity
  • Variety of custom projects rather than repetitive production work
