BIMM is growing, and we're looking for a Product Designer to join our team. This role will be heavy on the User Research side and support one of our largest clients.

Local candidates (within the GTHA) will need to be able to work out of our beautiful office space in the Distillery, 2 days per week. Remote candidates (across Canada) must work EST hours.

Who we are

BIMM is a Toronto-based agency that lives at the intersection of data, technology, and creativity to provide clients with high-performing campaigns and digital products that shape connected customer experiences. We've helped our clients implement fully integrated CRM customer journeys, built robust digital experiences, and created national loyalty programs with decades of experience in sectors of automotive, financial, telco and retail.

We are creative realists, which means our ideas and solutions are grounded in the realities of our clients' business. We believe big ideas are nothing without big results (and flawless execution); high-performing agencies deliver high-performing campaigns, products, and experiences; and the best solutions happen when we collaborate with clients as partners.

Who we're looking for

As a Product Designer, you'll bring an understanding and appreciation of user-centered design principles, with a strong research component to the role. You will be able to independently conduct user research to uncover insights, validate design decisions and help improve product usability for yourself and other designers on the team, while synthesizing research findings into clear, actionable insights and report-outs that help inform product and design direction. Your skillset allows you to work within a Design System that includes working with brand and product usage guidelines through creative direction. You have strong communication skills that allow you to discuss and collaborate on implementation strategies with PMs, Developers, and QA, while also presenting your designs and research findings to client stakeholders with sound rationale and clear supporting insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create user flows, task flows, journey maps, and information architecture artifacts that support intuitive user experiences across web products.
  • Implement new ideas and designs in collaboration with designers and developers using user-centered design principles and responsive web/mobile usability standards.
  • Produce functional prototypes and high-fidelity mockups to demonstrate solutions, translating concepts and wireframes into polished experiences while leveraging design systems, brand standards, and creative direction.
  • Create and maintain interactive, clickable prototypes for usability testing, working closely with the team to validate concepts and incorporate user feedback into design solutions.
  • Present complex concepts, design rationale, and recommendations clearly and persuasively to clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Manage multiple design requests, competing priorities, and tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality and attention to detail.
  • Conduct end-to-end research studies from planning, discussion guides, methodology and discovery to execution and presentation of findings.
  • Ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative research including moderated user interviews, usability testing, preference testing and surveys.
  • Draft screener questions and recruitment criteria based on the needs of the research.
  • Provide Product and Design teams with research context, perspective, and recommendations on usability.
  • Communicate research findings through unbiased, compelling written reports and client presentations.
  • Contribute your research and perspective throughout the entire product sprint cycle, from planning to implementation to post-release.
  • A willingness to learn, take feedback, ask for help, and support teammates.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience designing responsive web within cross-functional product teams.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work, from problem definition and concept development through validation and delivery.
  • Knowledge of UX, UI and Research best practices, interaction patterns, information architecture, accessibility standards, and responsive design principles.
  • Experience creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using design systems and component libraries.
  • Ability to advocate for user needs while balancing business goals, technical constraints, and competing priorities.
  • Experience collaborating with Product Managers, Developers, QA, Design Researchers, and stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, proactively gather context, ask clarifying questions, and move work forward when requirements are not fully defined.
  • Ability to clearly communicate design rationale, present complex concepts, and incorporate feedback from stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with Figma, FigJam, design systems, and AI-powered tools that enhance research, ideation, prototyping, documentation, and overall design efficiency.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams, priorities, deliverables, and deadlines in a fast-paced Agile environment.
  • Comfortable using popular testing platforms such as: usertesting.com, userzoom, Optimizely, Appinio, etc.
  • Comfortable using Figma and Figjam for research synthesis and report design.

Nice to haves

  • Ability to estimate and scope your assigned work on a sprinted Agile delivery schedule
  • Experience with front-end and back-end component restrictions
  • Ability to understand constraints of 3rd party integrations (3PIs)
  • Experience in designing for the automotive space
  • Experience with AI tools and plugins to enhance the overall design process and delivery
  • Experience designing native mobile applications (iOS and Android)

Even if you don't meet all of the above requirements, we still encourage you to apply!
