The Opportunity

An established Canadian manufacturer is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker to support its metal-stamping operation in Markham.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced toolmaker who enjoys troubleshooting, solving production problems and taking pride in keeping dies—and the operation—performing properly.

What You'll Be Doing

Tooling Maintenance and Repair

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on stamping dies.

  • Diagnose tooling problems and complete emergency repairs to minimize production downtime.

  • Repair, replace, fit and assemble tooling components.

  • Manufacture or modify parts for dies, production equipment and other plant machinery.

  • Clean, inspect and prepare dies according to the production schedule.

Troubleshooting and Production Support

  • Investigate tooling-related quality and production problems and determine the appropriate corrective action.

  • Support tooling tryouts and verify proper operation before release to production.

  • Check repaired or manufactured components for dimensional accuracy, clearances and alignment.

  • Communicate tooling concerns, required repairs and potential delays to tooling leadership.

  • Ensure dies are production-ready and respond promptly when tooling issues threaten scheduled output.

Tool Room and Quality

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and GD&T.

  • Operate conventional tool-room equipment and use precision measuring instruments.

  • Record completed maintenance and repairs within the company's ERP system.

  • Support 5S, workplace safety, continuous improvement and established quality requirements.

What You Bring

  • Five or more years of tooling maintenance and repair experience.

  • Hands-on experience with dies in a metal-stamping production environment.

  • Strong knowledge of progressive and/or transfer dies.

  • Proven troubleshooting, fitting, repair and precision-measurement skills.

  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T.

  • Ontario 430A Tool and Die Maker certification or equivalent Red Seal is preferred.

  • A dependable, safety-conscious and collaborative approach.
