Data Cabler / Structured Cabling Technician
Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Data Cabler / Structured Cabling Technician to install, terminate, test, and maintain low-voltage structured cabling systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with commercial or industrial cabling projects and is comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, route, and terminate structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling
- Install and maintain data, voice, and low-voltage cabling infrastructure
- Perform cable pulling, dressing, labeling, and organization in cable trays, conduits, ceilings, and equipment rooms
- Terminate cables using RJ45 connectors, patch panels, keystone jacks, and related hardware
- Test and troubleshoot network cabling using appropriate testing equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, cable schedules, and installation plans
- Install cable trays, J-hooks, raceways, and other cable-support systems
- Identify and troubleshoot connectivity, termination, and cabling issues
- Maintain accurate cable labeling and documentation
- Follow workplace safety procedures and project specifications
- Coordinate with electricians, technicians, contractors, and other trades on job sites
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Data Cabler, Structured Cabling Technician, Low Voltage Technician, or Telecommunications Technician
- Hands-on experience with structured cabling installation and termination
- Knowledge of Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A and fiber optic systems
- Ability to read technical drawings and cable layouts
- Familiarity with cable testing and troubleshooting tools
- Comfortable working from ladders, lifts, ceilings, and construction/job-site environments
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Nice to Have
- Fiber optic installation/termination experience
- Experience with commercial construction or data center projects
- Low-voltage or telecommunications certifications
- Experience with Fluke or similar cable certification/testing equipment
- WHMIS, Working at Heights, or other applicable safety certifications
