Business Systems & IT Manager

Location: Lacombe, Alberta

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent - On-Site

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 annually + benefits

Our client, an established and growing food manufacturing organization, is seeking a Business Systems & IT Manager to take ownership of its internal technology environment at its Lacombe, Alberta facility. This role will be 100% on-site.

This is a hands-on role combining IT infrastructure, business systems and software development. The successful candidate will be comfortable supporting day-to-day IT operations while also working directly with business-critical applications and identifying opportunities to improve the company's overall technology environment.

Over the next 1–2 years, the organization is planning a significant ERP transformation, with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central currently being considered as its future platform. This individual will play an important role in planning and supporting that transition.

The company is also looking to expand its use of AI, automation and system integrations, giving this individual an opportunity to influence how emerging technologies are practically implemented across the business.

Key Responsibilities

IT Infrastructure & Operations

• Take ownership of day-to-day IT operations across the Lacombe facility.
• Manage and support computers, servers, networks, user accounts and related technology infrastructure.
• Manage software licensing, technology vendors and third-party IT relationships.
• Support employee onboarding and offboarding from an IT and systems perspective.
• Maintain cybersecurity practices, access controls, backups and overall system security.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, network and systems issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve internal IT capabilities and reduce reliance on external support.

Software Development & Business Systems

• Maintain, troubleshoot and enhance internally developed applications and business-critical systems.
• Develop and modify applications primarily within the Microsoft/.NET environment.
• Work with operational teams to understand business requirements and translate them into practical technology solutions.
• Support integrations between internal applications, production systems and enterprise platforms.
• Help modernize existing applications and systems where appropriate.

ERP & Digital Transformation

• Play a key technical role in the organization's planned ERP modernization over the next 1–2 years.
• Support the evaluation and implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a comparable ERP platform.
• Assist with system integrations, data migration and process improvements.
• Work closely with leadership, operations, finance and external implementation partners throughout the ERP project.

AI & Automation

• Identify practical opportunities to leverage AI and automation throughout the organization.
• Evaluate and integrate AI-enabled tools with existing business systems and workflows.
• Explore opportunities to improve productivity, reporting, decision-making and operational efficiency through emerging technologies.

Experience & Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience across software development, business systems and/or IT infrastructure.
• Strong development experience within the Microsoft/.NET environment, ideally including C#.
• Experience supporting and improving business-critical or internally developed applications.
• Hands-on experience with IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, hardware, user administration and software licensing.
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity, access controls, backups and IT security best practices.
• Experience with ERP systems, implementations, migrations or system integrations.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is considered a strong asset.
• Experience working with APIs, integrations and automation.
• Strong understanding of AI technologies and how they can be integrated into business systems and workflows.
• Experience within a manufacturing, production or operational environment is considered an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to independently take ownership of technology and systems within a hands-on environment.
