Solutions Consultant
Position Overview Our client, a leading Managed Service Provider (MSP) and telecommunications firm known for delivering reliable, secure, and standardized technology environments, is seeking a Solutions Consultant to join their technical team. Positioned right at the heart of client engagements and technical delivery, this role combines hands-on technical expertise with consulting, project management, and technology alignment. You will lead end-to-end infrastructure initiatives for SMB clients—from initial site assessments and gap analysis to technical planning, deployment, cutover, and final onboarding.
This is a high-ownership, consultative role designed for an MSP professional who thrives in a collaborative team environment, communicates complex ideas clearly, and takes pride in delivering standardized IT solutions. Operating out of an open, highly collaborative office environment, you will work closely with internal leadership and subject matter experts (including Microsoft certified cybersecurity specialists) to elevate client technology roadmaps. If you bring strong foundational IT knowledge, a self-directed work ethic, and a team-first mindset, this position offers exceptional long-term growth potential toward senior technical leadership!
Key Responsibilities
Consulting & Technology Alignment: Serve as a trusted technology advisor to SMB clients. Conduct technical assessments, identify gaps between current state and best practices, and translate business needs into scalable technology roadmaps.
Project Ownership & Delivery: Develop and execute detailed project plans for infrastructure, network, and cloud initiatives—managing timelines, vendor coordination, cutovers, and client onboarding.
Systems & Network Implementation: Design, deploy, and maintain business IT infrastructure, including SMB-level networking (routing, switching, firewalls, DNS, and VLAN configurations) and core Microsoft 365 / Azure environments.
Technical Escalation & Support: Act as a key escalation point for complex technical issues, collaborating with project teams and occasionally assisting on support desk requests to ensure seamless service continuity.
Collaboration & Security Coordination: Work hand-in-hand with internal cybersecurity experts to ensure all deployed client environments strictly adhere to established security and standardization benchmarks.
Documentation & Process Improvement: Maintain precise technical records, network diagrams, standard operating procedures, and configuration benchmarks across all client systems.
Key Requirements
Experience: 5+ years of direct experience in an MSP or client-facing IT managed services environment.
Networking Expertise: Solid, hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting SMB-level switches, routers, firewalls, DNS, and VLANs.
Cloud & Systems Administration: Practical, generalist knowledge across Microsoft 365 administration, Active Directory, Azure, and core cloud concepts.
Consultative & Project Skills: Proven ability to build project plans, perform technical gap analyses, and communicate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
Professional Attributes:
Highly self-directed and organized with exceptional attention to detail and thorough documentation habits.
A low-ego, collaborative team player who communicates with empathy and works well in an open, interactive team setting.
Location & Mobility: Ability to work full-time in-office (located near South Osborne) and travel locally to client sites as required (via personal vehicle, transit, or ride-share).
Nice to Have
Fluency in both English and French (bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply).
Industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Azure, Cisco, Fortinet, or security credentials)
