Supervisor, Transportation
Job Summary Fuze HR is seeking on behalf of our client an experienced Transportation Supervisor to oversee daily transportation operations and lead a team of drivers. The Supervisor will be responsible for route planning, employee management, customer service, safety, and ensuring transportation activities are completed efficiently and on time.
This role is hands-on and requires someone who can work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
Pay Rate : $38 / hour Schedule : Monday-Friday , 9:00 AM start time. Full time role. 40+ hours per week.
Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation & Operations
  • Plan and manage daily driver routes and schedules.
  • Ensure all scheduled customers are serviced on time.
  • Adjust routes, staffing, and resources when operational issues arise, such as vehicle breakdowns or unexpected delays.
  • Monitor routes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Manage daily driver debriefs and ensure all required documentation is completed.
  • Monitor inventory and ensure adequate supplies are available.
  • Manage transportation vehicles, equipment, and other operational assets.
  • Review employee hours and overtime to ensure resources are used efficiently.
  • Monitor operational performance and recommend improvements.
Customer Service
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and ensure service expectations are met.
  • Address customer issues and follow up to resolve service concerns.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and gather feedback on service.
  • Conduct customer visits when required.
  • Monitor service metrics such as on-time service and missed stops.
Team Leadership
  • Supervise, coach, and develop transportation employees.
  • Train and onboard new drivers.
  • Establish performance expectations and provide regular feedback.
  • Conduct performance reviews and team meetings.
  • Perform driver ride-alongs and spot checks to ensure safe and efficient work practices.
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and safety-focused work environment.
  • Support employee development and address performance issues when required.
  • Conduct regular yard inspections.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all employees follow company safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor employees to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and training.
  • Maintain required driver and vehicle documentation.
  • Monitor driver hours and ensure compliance with applicable transportation regulations.
  • Ensure vehicle inspection and safety records are complete and up to date.
  • Identify potential safety issues and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a structured operational environment.
  • 2+ years of transportation or logistics experience.
  • Experience scheduling and supervising drivers or transportation teams.
  • Valid driver's license with Q endorsement (air brakes). Preference will be given to candidates with commercial driving licenses/experience.
  • Strong knowledge of route planning, scheduling, and transportation operations.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office and spreadsheets.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Commercial driving experience is considered an asset.
