It is a performance/sales based role, with well-defined goals, approaches, and coaching/training structures. You'll become an expert on all aspects of our school: our operating philosophies, our teachers, and our programs. Although not a requirement, a genuine connection with music, (preferably as someone who took/takes music lessons themselves) is a preferred starting point.

  • Enjoys goal-oriented problem-solving, who is energized by challenges
  • Is highly organized and excels in personal time management
  • Is comfortable starting conversations with strangers, either in-person, over the phone, or via email or chat

  • Is able to make consistently positive first impressions on those around them

We do require the following to consider you for the role:

  • A completed post-secondary degree or diploma in any discipline
  • Fluency with current cloud productivity software and a general comfort level with learning new software systems
  • A high level of personal organization & written and verbal communication

Preferred Experience:

  • At least 1 year of sales experience (inside or outside) and/or delivering elite level customer service
  • Some experience playing a musical instrument, at any level

Accountabilities:

1. Assist and sell to customers (walk-ins, callers, leads generated through online marketing, school clients, etc.) to make an educated decision about instrument

  • Answer incoming phone calls, where you'll qualify and connect with customers
  • Assist walk-ins with questions. Provide them with a thorough sales presentation based on their area of interest.
  • Develop and manage a pipeline of sales prospects in line with company policies and systems

2. Understand Merriam Music product offerings and market positioning at an expert level

3. Participate in professional development

  • Participate in ongoing training and development

Salary Expectations & Benefits:

The compensation structure includes both base salary in addition to performance-based commission. Successful candidates have the ability to earn between $65,000 - $80,000+.

Merriam Music full-time employees enjoy membership in a co-op benefits package, which offers coverages for dental, medical, and other various benefits.
