Mechatronics & Robotics Technician
Position Type: Full-Time, Direct-Hire, Paid Training
Location: Delta, BC, Canada
Pay Range: $28.25/hour - $29.25/hour
Job Overview
As a Mechatronics & Robotics Technician, you will support the Operations Maintenance team by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated packaging, distribution, and material handling equipment. This hands-on role offers paid training and the opportunity to build your skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated control systems.
You will work alongside experienced technicians to ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while helping minimize downtime throughout the facility.
What This Job Involves
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on conveyor systems, automated equipment, and Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues affecting equipment performance.
  • Install, maintain, and repair automation components including motors, motor starters, relay logic, photo-eyes, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids, and other electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Assist with robotic and electromechanical equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Complete maintenance work orders accurately, including labor hours, repairs performed, and parts used.
  • Support equipment inspections, routine maintenance activities, and department inventory tracking.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety procedures, OEM guidelines, and applicable safety standards.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance team members to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Build positive working relationships across the facility.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn industrial maintenance, automation, and robotics systems.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or industrial equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to read or learn to interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to safely work in an industrial environment and follow established safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2+ years of experience repairing material handling equipment or performing industrial maintenance.
  • 1-2+ years of experience performing preventative and predictive maintenance procedures.
  • Experience with automated conveyor systems, controls, sensors, motors, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles.
  • Experience troubleshooting basic input/output functions within control systems.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Experience with robotic, automated, or electromechanical equipment.
  • Experience working with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards in accordance with OEM guidelines and applicable regulations.
  • Internship, vocational training, apprenticeship, or hands-on manufacturing experience is a plus.
Physical Demands
  • Frequently perform tasks involving bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, standing, walking, and working in various positions.
  • Lift and move parts and tools averaging 20 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 49 pounds.
  • Use manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate tools, handle components, and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Push and pull wheeled equipment and carts weighing more than 100 pounds.
  • Maneuver awkward or bulky equipment parts.
  • Work at heights and in confined or cramped spaces, including areas under and behind machinery.
  • Work in industrial environments that may include dust, fumes, odors, noise, vibration, varying temperatures, wet or uneven surfaces, and prolonged standing on concrete.
  • Stand and walk for shifts of up to 1012 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation.
